Complex A-Map Question

Does anyone know if A-Map actually looks for free space? Does anyone have any information about how A-Map actually writes to the ROM?

Just feels like I get header/footer and invalid pointer errors way too often. I've noticed my data structure changes as well, it feels like A-Map just writes after the end of the table and overwrites any data there, and when nearly doubling the size of the world it starts to destroy ROMs.

Is there something I'm missing about making mapfiles larger in dimensions or making more connections than in vanilla? Is it simply not possible with the tools we have?

Is A-Map really just THAT buggy? If it messes up, simply retrying the same thing from my backup will make it work without error EVENTUALLY?

ANY and ALL information you have about A-Map's save/table structure and how it writes to ROMs is appreciated, Thanks.

    I use 1.92 and 1.95.

1.95 does seem a BIT more unstable, but it has better usability and features than 1.92.

On the flip side, 1.92 can safely edit wild pokes and I find it less buggy to copy/paste maps into.

I started with modifying all the other variables and planned to do mapping last. Seems like it may have been a mistake?

Just want to know if I can/should count on A-Map to safely edit the ROM without overwriting the hex I changed (as it seems to give zero fucks about any other modified hex values).

Or if I can do something to A-Map that would result in me spending less time than re-doing my hack (mapping first this time), such as asking the community if they have had similar problems and possible thoughts/solutions (:

I'm pretty sure you're no supposed to use both of them. Also 1.95 is a LOT more unstable in my experience. As in I wouldn't recommend using it at all in spite of the features.
