Contest Guide
by Dragon Tamer Lance
Have you ever had trouble winning the Master rank contest in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum? Well hopefully with my help that won't be a problem anymore, I'm not an expert on contests and I would like to make that clear before I continue but all the move sets that I will list here have worked on the Pokemon they were created for in the contest I have chosen for it, thus if you follow the order of the move set you should not have many problems.
Part one Poffins:
The contests in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum all revolve around these, if your Pokemon does not have some or max condition (the green pentagon or triangle that points to one of the 5 contest choices [Beauty, Cool, Cute, Smart, Tough]) then your pokemon will not be able to win many contests let alone the enter the contest itself. Poffins however are very annoying to make and it takes a steady hand to make perfect lv. 99 poffins, thus if you don't have the patience to do this don't bother, unless of course you would like to use the AR cheat for it. I have to admit the Action Replay cheat for Lv. 99 Poffins comes in handy if you do not have the patiance to make the rich poffin. I myself use the cheat (if you would like the cheat PM me) so I can't really give you much information on making the perfect poffin though one of my friends does know and has posted it on another website, I can not post it here yet due to not having 15 posts, but when I do I will post it.
Part two Making the perfect move set:
To make a perfect move set I recomend using a website that contains an attack dex such as Serebii (name of the website not the dex), that way you can easily tell which moves are for which contest and which ones would be the easist to work with. I myself have found that the easisest way to win a Master Rank contest is to have a good combo of move sets which consist of a move that gets a good appeal score from low voltage (wake up slap, guard swap, baton pass, present, U-turn, etc.), moves that double your appeal points (focus energy, swords dance, Psych up), moves that get added appeal points if you attack first or last (water pulse, earthquake, etc), moves that allow you to go first (agility, double team, etc) and moves that gain appeal points due to the turn they are played (fire spin, bind, etc). So in short a good combo of moves would be agility and water pulse, because agility would make you go first the next turn and allow you to get double points when you use water pulse which gets a +2 in points when it's used before other poke'mon. Another good combo would be focus energy(doubles your appeal points for next turn) and wake up slap(gains points for low voltage), that way your poke'mon gets about 8 appeal points (if voltage is 0 on the judge you preform it to) due to the effects of focus energy.
Part three: Perfect Poke'mon
I'm only going to post one example of a perfect Pokemon for now because I'm not sure how well this guide will do and I don't exactly want to post all of them, however if you are still confused on how to make a good move set request one from me in a move set, just send me a PM with the poke'mon's name and I'll give you a move set for it.
Ex: Xatu
Moves: Ominus wind, Guard Swap, Power Swap, Psychic
Order to use: Ominus wind, guard swap (lowest voltage judge), ominus wind, Psychic/power swap
This Xatu can be used in pretty much any contest so it doesn't really need to wear a scarf to help it's condition unless of course it's condition isn't maxed, if the condition isn't maxed then any scarf (red, blue, yellow, green, pink) will do just make sure the scarf matches the contest you are entering.
Once again I'm not sure how helpful this will be to everyone here but please feel free to post any questions or PM me any requests on a Pokemon.
