Question: Could someone give me like a huge definition

I have a feeling that I must have missed some small text while reading the rules.

Does the mini-modding rule still apply as a reason to give someone a warning for their post if there is nothing to be reported in the thread, including their own post?

Some people might take it upon themselves to make a comment about a post that in their mind, is deemed to be report-worthy even if on a wider scale it actually isn't. But just the same, if somebody does try to that without taking into mind the topic at hand then that person is easily the one turning the tables on themselves. So yes, report.

Why would somebody mini-mod a thread that does not go against rules?
I would imagine it would take a brain to log in and a brain to post, and you are bound by rules when posting.

However, I highly doubt posting constructive criticism in a thread is considered mini-modding, especially when it's posted in a forum where ideas and advice on those ideas go.

I have no intentions of playing the role as pretend moderator for a day; merely give my two cents to someone's post.


My question doesn't necessarily need to go on much longer, I've heard everything I need to hear.

The point of this thread altogether however was I feel like the past few days things have been out of hand in the hacking section.
I understand a moderator has their duties, but I feel like the handing out of warnings/closing threads lately is done by rash judgement.

It was to my understanding that a hack scrapbox post has like a day in order to fix up their post so that it meets the qualifications. Threads have been closed without given a chance or a warning in well under a couple of hours.

Also, I and others have been providing feedback to others hacks the past few days, yet we were given warnings for our constructive criticism.
Telling someone that their hack could use a little work and what parts you think could be improved are being considered mini-modding.

I do not expect my warning to go away, but a lot of us our holding back from posting in that section now because we don't know what qualifies as constructive criticism in that section anymore.

Well yeah, of course.
And that does happen every so often, but there are people who are actually trying to construct good feedback to someone's hack idea are getting punished AND those threads are being closed with absolutely no warning or reason why.

If ever I say anything about the length of a storyline or lack of features, it's me showing interest in wanting to hear more. Not me threatening that a threads going to be closed if not.

I really don't think it's fair that we're trying to cooperate with other hackers in throwing together ideas and get punished for it in return for "mini-modding."

I have absolutely no desire to do a moderators job for them. I just recently joined this community because I want to hack and be around a group of other hackers (that speak english :D), and I'm sure that's the way the others feel too. But we're getting warnings and closed threads over feedback.

This is no attack towards the moderators, I think they're doing a great job of keeping this place together. I just think there is confusion on what is feedback and what is an attempt at someone being a lolmod.

But remember sometimes a comment "Constructive" criticism is not wanted..

Sometime people just wanna post their work.. Sometimes they don't want other comments then..: Wow this looks so good, keep up the fabulous work..

If they don't ask for it and somebody just goes ahead and does it, the owner of the thread will most likely hit the report button and you get a warning of some sort.. Now when the mod sees the report he has to take action.. And the only category I think unwanted "constructive" criticism falls into is mini modding...


See the main point here is, if people don't ask for feedback then don't give it to them....


Feedback and Comments can be two different things.. Feedback is "Constructive criticism".. And a normal comment is just: Wow that's an excellent hack you've got there, I am jealous of your hacking skills...

...Since when is constructive criticism mini-modding? There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism. If a thread was closed after someone replied to it with constructive criticism, it was most likely due to the thread being a thread revival of some sort. :|

The way I see it, there's no such thing as unwanted criticism on a forum so public as this. You're going to get criticized no matter what you do. Unwanted criticism is in no way mini-modding unless it's in relation to criticizing the fact that the thread is placed somewhere, which is mini-modding.

I don't know about Cirno or Alice., but to be honest, I don't care much whether normal members say in a Scrapbox thread that "Your story needs to be longer" or "You need an introduction/features" or whatever. There are so many threads in there that it's become a genuine chore to go through and examine every thread to see if it's up to snuff. And it's pretty obvious (at least, to me) that if a thread doesn't get up to the Scrapbox rules, it's likely to die anyways. I'll talk to the other moderators when I have a chance, but I don't see why you guys can't tell someone things like that, so long as it's not just a ploy to get your post counts up. :D

Also, about threads being closed; there's a rule in the Scrapbox about stub threads, where a thread is so limited to the point that there's only a couple sentences that we just have the right to close it. It's obvious that the thread is probably useless and/or not thought-out so it gets closed. Don't take that to personal offense, okay?
