"Cream of the Croagunk Crop" Episode Discussion

I also liked the flashback, so that's why Carnivine is so fond of James. It was also interesting to see Meowth with his paw wrapped up, usually when someone gets hurt in these shows, they heal almost instantaneously. :cheeky:

(I had to save the Notepad document because this thread wasn't up...I would've posted the topic but I didn't want to annoy Charaxes or anything haha)

Apparently, the Japanese version was based on this:

Well, should this happen again, you get the next one. Promise.

So, what, they changed the design because of Japanese rights, or what? Huh. That's a first. Off to Bulbapedia!

what was the point of this epsiode?

what did it achieve?
i really do hate when they just waste time in epsiodes that is full of nothing relating to the main storyline or parts of the storyline

epic failure because it achieved nothing and was a waste of time

I think the point of this episode was to show off the Great Marsh. Overall it was a fillar episode but the main point was just to show off the train and the Great Marsh that was part of the pokemon game.

Overall I found this episode REALLY funny. I am not sure why but it just made me laugh a lot. Teeheehee Just seeing Meowth like a Croagunk was funny. Still one thing that I found really funny was the beauty contest where people were amazed at the croagunks doing just nothing but sitting. I was so wondering what were wrong with the townspeople if they thought that was great. Teeheehee

Teeheehee Meowth saying Flame On was funny too. I liked that.

Still su. I didn't like the mecha blowing up just because of that. I mean you be thinking it will take more then just one Vacume Wave to destory it.

Crasher Wake looks like a lucha weaslter. Teeheehee

I think I like what was shown in the dub for Hamilton. To tell the truth, the original look for Hamilton looks so BAD! I mean those glasses and hair looks like something that was painted on during the day of 4Kids dubbing. I really can't believe that Hamilton looked like that because that hair and glasses look like it shouldn't be there. The brown hair looks more natural and to me it looks like it was suppose to be there unlike the blue-green hair. The blue-green hair one just looks so fake and bad.

Overall I think I like what happen in this episode when it came to the winner of the contest. I mean Brock did a very good job and it made sense why he and Croagunk were so close to winning. For example during the beauty contest his Croagunk did really good and to me that made sense since he is a pokemon breeder and in the shows it is up to the pokemon breeder to make a pokemon look good and raise well. Overall Nurse Joy won and that was okies too since I am sure that any pokemon brought up by a Nurse Joy would be well taken cared of.

Two thumbs up!!!

Confirmed that it was a Japanese edit rather than dub

So I'm watching the DVD version...and, in addition to changing Hiroki's appearance, they also changed his name to Takuya.

His Gureggru got a name change, too.

Best I can figure...Gurekko.

Before, its name was Gurekichi, which is awfully close to Pyonkichi, the name of the frog in Dokonjou Gaeru. So, it got changed.

Luckily for the producers of the show, the only people who say "Hiroki" or "Gurekichi" are Joi, Maxi, and Hiroki/Takuya. So only three voice actors had to be called in to rerecord their lines.

The only other change I noticed was one of Hiroki's/Takuya's lines. Right after he gets up out of his throne to battle Takeshi, Hiroki says 根性、根性、ど根性だ! (konjou, konjou, dokonjou!, or "We've got guts! We've got guts! We're gutsy!"). That third part there is taken directly from the title of the anime Hiroki's modeled after, Dokonjou Gaeru, so the producers changed it to 燃えろ、燃えろ、燃えれ! ("We're on fire! We're on fire! Our fire's really burning!") to be safe.
