You carve by slashing on the touch screen on your ds.

Layout:
When you walk in your in a theater, you have to walk upon the stage where random audience members who are also steel type trainers at the gym will challenge you, you have to make each battle stylish enough for the audience. When the judges let you pass you have to go backstage. Backstage is a Zen garden where grass and psychic type trainers are meditating, to get through here you have to sneak by the trainers quietly or they will challenge you. After that you walk up some stairs which leads to the theaters catwalk, in this room Bird type trainers will jump down from the ceiling and challenge you. After getting to the end of the catwalk there is an elevator that takes you down underground where the gym leader is waiting.
