It's been a while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. As of right now, all of Kanto is complete and functional, with a few exceptions
- The ghost in Pokemon Tower is a stopper instead of an unwinnable battle.
- If you try hard enough, I'm sure that it's possible to run into a few instances where there's sprite set errors.
- Safari Zone uses the mechanics of the Bug Catching Contest, minus the day of week restrictions and the scoring. As a consequence, while there's no step counter, there is a time limit. Also, you can only catch one Pokemon at a time. Ideally, this is only temporary, but I only know so much about assembly.
Other than that, a few dex entries haven't been updated, and there might be a few small things I missed.
No, rather what's really been keeping me from moving forward is the post game. I'm no map designer, I won't deny it. Much less how to make good fleshed out maps that are interesting while making sense. There's also the fact of what it must contain. I had decided a while ago that the post game content would be where you could get items needed for gen 2 evolutions. But because of things I had to do in order for the game to keep track of you starting in Kanto, I can't have this post-game content have its own map. So, it needs to be compact.
Asides from that, I've really been wanting some better sprites for the roughneck and engineer trainer classes. Of the new trainer classes introduced in the hack, I'm only satisfied with the Tamer's sprite. Ideally, if I had a proper gen 2 styled back sprite for Red, I'd also go ahead and change Gold/Chris/Ethan to Red.
So yeah, that's my status update. See you in another 6 months
