So I've no idea where to start this off.
Pokemon X should evolve when it defeats Pokemon Y in combat.
Doesn't matter whether X does it alone, or merely was sent out first and pulled back.

    Is it even possible?
Additionally, is it possible to make Pokemon Y a variable? (like the Stone evolution method can have one of multiple stones.)

As such, I don't believe there is that way implemented into vanilla essentials. However, you could create your own evolution method, which might take some time. View the tutorial for that here.

    Hope that helps,

That... doesn't help at all, as far as I can see. The tutorial is almost irrelevant for how different the evolution triggers are. Thanks anyway though?

Wow, I kinda wanted the same thing too. I was thinking of an evolution to Zangoose/Seviper lines wherein Zangoose evolves when it defeats a Seviper and vice versa. I'll look into this too, despite being the amateur that I am. :P
