I wouldn't give up on cute news just because it won't give you an avie though.

It's just giving me a lot of trouble. No avatar, I can't figure out how to change text color, and some other things...

Cutenews is run on CSS. Add some CSS to your page and it'll be fine.

how would we add CSS? My page type is already set to HTML/CSS

I got it to work- you have to go to Control Panel and Edit Templates. Then click on active news and edit the HTML code.
