I think religions are great so long as they are Lightningism. *shot*

Haha, but seriously, I find religion immensely interesting so long as it's not Christianity. And even then, I'm sure it's also very interesting if only I'd learnt it in a different light. Instead of from the very skewed view of a Catholic high school. @_@

Alot of catholic schools where I live; you assume the students who go there are innocent in a way. But they're the complete opposite.

Catholic schools here are worse than the public schools.

I am anti-war. Why waste lives that could be put to much better use?

brb, lunch.

War is not as bad as the media says it is. Sure, a few casualties happen, but these men know the risk of their job, and are willing to accepted.
I have been watching past CNN war coverage, and i must say I'm insulted, really.

That's a shocker when you have to pay to go to one and the other's free.
Our school is 20x better that public schools, but we have our share of bad things as well. I wish I lived in a better state...like somewhere up North >.>

What an inspiring post. I believe the "brb, lunch." at the end pretty much sells it for me. xD

I know a few Catholic schools in my old school district that were WAY worse than the public schools, yeah. Honestly, though, aside from morning prayer and the mandatory (very biased) religious studies, I didn't find the Catholic schools much different from the public schools I've been in.
Catholic schools are so bias D:
One of our book's sources was Wikipedia. Wikipedia. I mean really, that should say enough.
That is... very strange. :| I've never heard of a book sourcing Wiki.

I guess they feel more superior considering their school is more expensive to go to then a public one.

What's the word I'm looking for.... Ah yes.

Spoiled brats.

Hey, I went to a Catholic school (Elementary), and look how I turned out.

Up here, the Catholic schools aren't privatized. Not all of them, anyway. I'm pretty sure they still get government funding, they're just separate schools. o_o; I know mine didn't have any weird tuitions and whatnot.

Not always.
For me it's more like, 'Getting a better education than an F school'.
Seeing the state I live in has the worst schools in the country.
Statistically.

I'm talking about catholic schools here. (Australia)

Not America. I assume they're okay there, since alot of people in America are religious-like.

What's the major religion in Australia?

I would have no clue.

Christianity I suppose?

But I guess we don't take it very seriously.

In America, we've had like, two different Enlightenment periods where people solely focused their life of religion and all of that stuff. It's pretty much in our foundations to be religious.

People don't take religion seriously unless they need help from the church, at wich point they can be the Biggest Christian, catholic, Muslim, Jewish, or whatever you worship.

It's all human nature, really.

True.

Religion is a way for people to feel better about traumatic events, such as death or dealing with family problems.

It gives them a more understanding of things I suppose.

Religion seems to just give people hope, it allows them to think that everything will be alright. And I suppose in a sense it also makes people feel loved, by whatever god they worship. I think that the idea of religion is a good one, yet it is often the cause of many problems because it seems people use it to justify hatred. =/

Actually, it only takes a few nutjobs to do that, not a whole religion. But nonetheless you have a point.

*has nothing to do with religion*

But that's just like the Khmer Rouge.

Everyone thought Pol Pot was bad.

But it was only a few nutjobs in the Khmer Rouge that actually screwed the whole thing up and killed people.

Well that's what my dad told me, because he was in the Khmer Rouge.

Some people just take things too far.

Thanks, i used to consider myself a Christian but I lost some faith after read the book Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry because after doing a little research I realized that in the time of slavery, in the US, the bible was used against slaves. Most slaves were illiterate and the white people told the black slaves that it was God's will for them to be the white peoples slaves.
It sickens me that people would say such a thing, its such a disgusting form of hypocracy. They state that God loves all his creations and then they use God to enforce slavery =(

It saddens me that life these days seems so... throwaway? Perhaps not the right term, but at least the right sense. I believe that every life is worth something, and one person killed is one too many. These people may have accepted the risk, but it doesn't mean it's alright to kill them.

..Dude Xairmo..We had to read that in like, 7th grade...I mean, I never actually got more than halfway through the book; I used sparknotes to help me pass the test we had on it, but from what i read in it um..yeah, i see what you mean XD

There's nothing really bad about following a religion because they all mainly promote the same idea anyways..I Personally don't follow one because I was brought us as Catholic, and i would get scared to death when I had to attend CCD with my crazy-ass, southern preacher-like teacher who would constantly single me out in front of everyone, and describe to me how I was gonna burn in an eternal lake of fire because of that one time I questioned God...But yeah, i have nothing against any religion, just the people who like..Take it so far that they will literally talk to you about hell like they've been there, just for not being..exactly like them ._.

We've all read from the same book..What makes you think you have any more knowledge than me? T_T
