    How about that, huh?

I got a pack asell and is forceful sentry really a rare now only, it should be a suppere rare.

Yes, Forceful sentry is only a rare now. My sister though, she got a Snatch Steal, and that is still an Ultra Rare. I think they based the rarities now mostly on what people play in their decks. :\

edit: also, I noticed they called the set "Dark Beginnings 1" which makes me think there may be future dark Beginnings sets. :\

I had to work hard for rare cards and trade hard and go through hard bargins to get the cards in my deck, and that's not fair if they don't have to work for it, and some newbie could just walk up to you and beat you down because they made all of these stronger cards easier to get!

    Geez, ask a simple question...

Yup. Beginners Edition 2 (Dark Beginnings 2 here) will be released soon in Japan. This set consists of reprints (including the 2004 tin promos and some Tournament Pack cards), a set of new Toon cards, and "Fusion Sage", a Magic card that allows you to get a Polymerization card from your deck (w00t?). There's also an Expert Edition 1 (Dark Revelations 1) coming out, though what this contains I don't know.

Some interesting things I noticed in the spoiler:

    Yata-Garasu is a common :(
The Destiny Board set is all common now.
    CYBAR-STIAN omgwtfbbq (normal rare)
Fiber Jar is a normal rare.
Gemini Elf, Exiled Force, and the new Toons are all commons.
    Last Turn is a rare.

There's more but I don't feel like picking through the whole thing. But yeah, this is definitely going to be aimed at players instead of collectors.

(waits for the collectors to throw up their arms to the sky pleading to stop the devaluation of their cards)

The Destiny Board set is all common? >.< I have all original destiny board (rare) except destiny board itself. And if Exodia pieces are common... O.O
Good thing about exodia pieces being common though, i have none right now and getting exodia's head from that golden portfolio thingy. :P So getting other pieces should be easy. Although making them common will attract newbies like flies... >.<

They decrease thr rarity of th cards that is what it is about.

Yeah, but we're talking about EXODIA, previously one of the most expensive set of yugioh cards! And they release the head in a master's collection thingy and make the other parts commons in a new set O.O And this is the set that when you get all 5 cards in your hand, you instantly win the game O.O

Hmm ... I might have to see if I can buy some of the DB packs this week. Isn't Dark Magician Girl supposed to be one of the cards in it ?

    Anyway .... Exodia is common now !? Well at least I'll be able to get the other pieces lol All I have so far is two " Exodia the Forbidden One " cards ^^;

I think dark beggings 2 is coming out sometime next year around April.

Though I don't think that appeals to the people who already had the whole set of exodia, which includes a friend of mine. What they those cards so valuable was their rarity and power, but now that they have been commonized (even though there is like 200 commons) It will severely decrease the value of the original peices.

wow this set is soo good for me since im a noob :P im gonna buy like 10 paks :)

Right. That's a good move by Upper Deck (an oxymoron in itself yes) to do that. They NEED to drop the prices down to a more affordable range so they can still compete in the single-card market. However, I am also doubting that mass distribution of the common forms of cards would end in the target decline that they would be likely targetting for (around 15-20 US).

Note that part of the reason why I chose to play magic over YGO when I had the choice was the pricing for something relatively competitive. It would be ridiculous to shell out hundreds for a single decent YGO deck when I can pay the same price for 2-3 tornament-calibur magic decks (as an example). The price dropping isn't necessarily a bad thing for the market Upper Deck is still gunning for, tho it really hit hard on the original players.

HOWEVER, they need severe control on the distribution of this set, since this set can also cause the singles market to crash if not handled correctly. So there are ups and downs to all of this, but I personally think UD has chosen the correct path to get the most out of YGO.

Also note that YGO communities MAY form due to the availability of the good cards...

Wow! I'm gonna buy a few DB packs! Sounds cool.

Though, actually, other than the fact that Exodia is really famous and rare, he stinks! The odds of having all 5 pieces in your hand is too deep compared to the waste of space in your deck (5 out of 40=1:8), and it gets worse if you have more than one of each piece. Destiny board is even worse (you must have it on the field-waste of field space). I play for having fun, anyway, and if I EVER won a duel because I had all Exodia pieces in my hand, I'd be mighty dissapointed. Like I said, I like to duel!

most exodia decks that focus on that guy don't do just him. They have witch, sangan, pot of greed, graceful charity, jar of greed, backup soldier in case peices get in the graveyard, and they also run plenty of stall cards, such as gravity bind, onbonxious celtic gaurdian, total defense shogun, cards like that. Exodia doean't suck, he just requires plenty of skill and good cards to back him up. He's still easier to win with than destiny board at any rate.
