Death Becomes Them!

I am writing this as one of them random threads so sorry but here I go! I was wondering the other day to whether there has been a death in the Pokémon Animé or a mention of death?

Well, in the 4th movie Sammy said Celebi is going to die. 4Kids usually tried to avoid using the "death" word. An example of avoiding would be Mewtwo saying "I'd rather leave this world" in Mewtwo Returns.

Actual death scenes would be Latios during the end of the fifth movie and Rukario during the eight movie. Some people count that Ash died in the first movie, though some say he just turn into stone.
Because Pokémon is aimed for kids I doubt there will be ever a scene were we see someone being stabbed by a sword or anything in that category.

In the episode "Tree's a Crowd" Ash noticed that the tree was in bad shape and it was dying. Don't know if that counts :D

There's been several mentions of death as listed from the above poster, but the writers don't have the guts to actually make anyone die, especially since the show/movies are directed to younger kids.

I got my Master Quest box sets yesterday! I was watching it today and noticed that in For Ho-Oh the Bells Toll they said that 3 Pokemon were killed in a fire and then (now maybe I heard wrong, but I'm *sure*) they said that they were reincarnated as Suicune, Raikou and Entei. I'm not sure they said reincarnated, but it was some revival word that started with "r". I was surprised at 4Kids anyway.

Trees can die, but people can be only destroyed. Heh.

Anyway, I'd say Mewtwo's rampage in the lab at the beginning of the first movie would count as a murder scene myself. Like pigs to slaughter. Hehe.

Technically, if you count the Birth of Mewtwo short, Ai-Two/Amber-Two also died (or disappeared in Myuutsu's/Mewtwo's vision). So, yeah. I'm not sure about Miyamato in the Birth of Mewtwo CD Drama for the avalanche that consumed her was a little vague if you think about it.

    Mewtwo = death. Heh.

As for the Ash dying in the First Movie I say he did die because if he was into stone that would mean his heart and other internal organs would have turned to stone which ceased them stable and not working, so yeah he did die technically!

Ash + Mew/Mewtwo PsyBlast = Ash Dead, Wow!

I think Ash and Pikachu died in the Haunter episode way back in Kanto too. Somehow, their spirits got returned to their bodies.

Don't forget the Ghost of Maiden's Peak back in Kanto. She died and became a ghost. Heh. And made friends with a chatty Gastly.

You could also mention "death" when Ash and his friends were captured by those pokemon "antibodies" in the 8th movie.

I agree with all the above posts, but have you all noticed that virtually ALL of these are open to discussion? I'm not sure anybody can recall a time when something definitely died and did not come back. Well I can't anyway, feel free to enlighten me though. :P

Nope, everything must have a happy ending. Sorry.

Hm, some could argue that Latios didn't actually "die" in the 5th Movie. I think the creators were trying to show that by including Latias flying with 2 Latios near the end of the show.

Well, in I believe it was known as the 8th movie "Lucario and The Mystery of Mew," It seems as if Lucario dies. Not 100% sure though...

Even that can be argued, as you see Lucario eating Chocolate with Aaron in the end. Also I think it's mentioned that Aaron was in a "suspended state" or something like that, and not exactly "dead".
