    INTRODUCTION:
I just searched through the forums, and to my surprise, there's no Death Note fanclub! *le gasp* So I thought I could make one, being a great Death Note fan myself. And to those who have never heard of Death Note, he's some sort of summary thing (courtesy of Wikipedia):

"Light Yagami is a brilliant, but bored, high school student who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground in the year 2003. The Death Note's instructions claim that, if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the Death Note's genuinity, believing it is just a prank. However, after experimenting with it and killing two criminals, Light is forced to admit the Death Note is real. After meeting with the true owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become the "God of new world" by passing his judgment on criminals."

This series started as a manga (as most animes do), and now has a movie (with another one coming up some time in November in Japan) and an anime series, again in Japan.

So basically, discuss about the manga, the anime, the movie or Death Note in general.

I'd love to join, Death Note's been one of my favorite manga since I first read it last read.

Not the biggest fan of the anime though, it just doesn't work that great in animation.

Yeah, I thought that the anime wasn't as good as it could have been...
I like the ending song, though >_>
I haven't finished the manga series yet... Since I forgot which volume I was on...

And yes [ray.z], you may become co-owner.

Thank you both for joining ^_^

XD I have to finish too...
So... Has anyone seen the movie? I saw it a few weeks ago. It was okay, and it was pretty faithful to the manga. But my friend kept sqealing on how cute L was... O_o

I saw the first half of the movie a while ago, it was a cam version...pretty good for a cam version though. I mainly saw it because my favorite actor got the part of Raye and I'll watch anything he's in. I can't wait for it the come to the US, not so sure how I feel about the planned remake though, if they cast all America actors(none of Japanese decent), I really don't think it'll work.

American actors playing Death Note? That would be pretty strange. I don't think it would work as effectively as Japanese people playing the characters. Plus, I won't get to squeal at Tatsuya Fujiwara, the actor who plays Light x3

You should go watch Battle Royale if you like him that much. Lots of Japanese actors came from that movie.

The main reason American actors wouldn't work for Death Note is probably because...all the characters are Japanese. Of coruse they could change that, but it would screw everything up.

I was planning to borrow my friend's VCD copy of Battle Royale... But she kept forgetting to bring it... >_>

Anyway, I think it would be pretty weird watching American actors play as Japanese people. The actors who played in Death Note were pretty suited to their roles. I mean, Tatsuya Fujiwara had that evil smile thing going pretty well, and Kenichi Matsuyama (dude who plays L) just had that L-charm that made everyone in the cinema squeal O_o

Yeah, I honestly can't see them casting anyone else for those parts. If they do remake them, the main cast at least HAS to stay Japanese. It won't work any other way.

Unless they change the setting, in that case...like they probably will.

    Well, the Wammy people are all British/ish, plus their lackies are from various places but they're only a small precent of the cast. D;
I like the anime. I don't see why everyone hates it so much, people will whine about everything they can. The first part of the manga was boring as hell, I could hardly muddle through it, the anime is no diffrent, but it'll pick up...

    I'll post here too~

Oh, cool. And yes, you're both welcome to join =D I like the anime, but I really prefer the manga. I'm not quite sure why, though...

Anyway, who is/are your favourite character/s?

For anyone that wants to watch the movie, it aired on Japanese TV a few days ago and the torrent is out now. Holy crap, that's how you're supposed to do Death Note. The entire movie was so awesome, especially L, Light and Raye's actors, they all perfectly fit their roles. The movie ends with L and Light meeting for the first time. There's a new character in the movie not in the manga, but she's pretty much just there to show how evil Light can actually be.

At the end there's also a pretty long preview for The Last Name. It ends by showing part of the pretty big scene from volume 7. Can't wait for both movies to show up in the US, I'm really glad that the WB is actually releasing them outside of Japan.

Post a link to it, or something, Jorge? We already all know how smart and ontop of things you are.

Well I just finished reading Death Note last night.

    o.o

It was so heart pounding that I couldn't go to sleep till 2 AM (I finished it at 12)

    It was just ... woah.

Firstly, please link us to the torrent Blue (if that's allowed) - I really wanna see the movie now.

Secondly, Light ain't evil - he's just a sociopathic jerk (but what he did to the girl ... that is pretty evil).

And is there any news on it's release over here in Australia?

Don't really know... But the second one's coming on 30th November here in Thailand =D

I love living close to Japan...

Bad? Good? I thought it could have been a lot better, it really was a let down after how great the series started out.

    (if that's allowed)
    Torrent links are allowed.

Click. It's a pretty big file though.

I've seen a bit of the second movie through a cam rip up on Winny, it was just the last couple of minutes, the ending's ten times better than the manga. Can't wait to see the entire thing myself, and hopefully in good quality.

And as far as I know, there's no Australian release planned yet, though it might end up there after the US gets it.
