Decomp repository for community-built hacks

    Hello,

I've been using https://github.com/pret/pokefirered/blob/master/INSTALL.md#build-pokefirered to build firered locally. I really love this project and I've learned a lot from the repo. I've been compiling firered myself (on macOS + Docker), and applying a patch file (using https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/) for whichever ROM hack I want to try playing. I typically get my patch files from pokecommunity. The latest I've played (and loved) were Gaia, Scorched Silver, Unbound, and Adventures Red.

What I'm looking for now, is essentially a decomp repository but for one of the community developed ROM hacks. Ideally one that includes many of the quality of life (QOL) improvements, that the community has grown to love and expect in a modern day pokemon GBA ROM hack.

The reason I'm looking for this, is because I would like to build a very basic hack of my own, but I would prefer to build on top of an existing hack that includes the QOL additions. And to be perfectly clear, I'm doing this as a learning exercise, for myself. I do not plan to make a public ROM hack, nor do I plan to iterate my own "version" based on someone else's ROM hack. I merely want to compile a firered ROM that includes the most common QOL improvements.

I suppose one could perform a decompilation on an existing ROM hack, but this seems a bit silly, if there already exists an open source repo where someone has showcased the source for their ROM hack, right?

Finally, I'll state that I'm totally new to decomps and ROM hacking, so if I said anything here that doesn't make sense, please let me know. I don't understand the internals of how decompilations work yet, I'm in the process of learning about this.

PS - The fact that firered can be compiled from source (that appears to be entirely ASM and C code!) still blows my mind. This community has been insanely helpful for getting me setup and involved in this retro gaming scene.

    Thank you all!

    Pokefirered equivalent: https://www.pokecommunity.com/threa...efirered-decomp-project.533164/#post-10903182
Note: it's not made by the same group of people and I don't even know how much feature parity it has with the Pokeemerald-expansion, use at your own risk.
