I think it would be nice if owners of threads could remove any posts they don't see fit in it.

It would probably help a lot since owners wouldn't need to have to report any posts they don't like if they could just delete it.

I do say that they won't be allowed to delete staff posts, but everyone is else can be deleted.

I don't think there could be abuse to this since if it's your thread, you should be allowed to delete posts.

    Any comments?

Not too sure if that would work, because the owner of the thread could just delete someone's post because he/she doesn't like them. Silly I know, but there is a possibility that the 'owner' could do this. Also, I think reporting posts is just fine. Mods are usually onto the 'off-topic' remark in a flash anyways.

People could use it in bad ways, or for no good reason, and that would abuse a persons power. Reporting a post is fine with me, it can be done quickly and it's good how it is, so no.

I definetly disaprove this. Threads are public, that means everyone has right to state their own opinions on the subject. You should be allowed to choose which posts you like, and others just get deleted. that's why we have Mods who do their job (well most of them do) who, if the post is supposed to be deleted (off-topic, spam, flaming, trolling, ...) do so!

    No it wouldn't

The immature people at a creative section will exercise their immaturity towards constructive criticism.

Yes, it can and will be abused.

This is not a very well thought idea.

I'd like this, for my Nightclub... but it's not something that would be beneficial.

You just reminded me of a wonderful example. Right, so I created the current "the count to infinity" thread. Imagine if I missed out on getting a high number and I really wanted it, so I deleted 50 posts or so. And did this each time I wanted a number. Plus, it might ensure the fact that the thread will never be restarted. I wouldn't do that, but still. In most trivia threads, this would be a bad idea.

But no, I don't want this to happen. Let's leave it how it is.

I see no reason to let thread creators manage their own threads...it's easily abused...even if they only can soft-delete the post.

Now, I can see the logic of being able to delete your own posts, but again this is easily abused so members can only soft-delete their own posts.

(Soft-delete means any member of staff can view it still.)

Perhaps if PC were ever likely to add a pure spam-pit section that only goes by the PC rules and prohibits adult topics...it might be fun to give members power to delete/lock their own threads. But I doubt that idea will ever get implemented. I would think that every member of staff would strongly oppose it.

If you think a certain post in a thread is breaking a rule, provided that this is a reason you'd want to delete it from your thread, just report it and a staff member will see that it is handled. There are moderators for a reason. If members could delete posts in the threads they'd make, it'd only lead to more ideas like "well we should be able to lock threads we make" and on and on until every member is practically a moderator.

Yeah.. this.. is definitely something that seems unlikely to pass. Sure, it would be nice for a few choice threads, but it also lessens the role of moderators, as well as probably being abused by people. :/ With that said.. it seems like all any of us can do is echo other people now, and repeat what's already been said. So I'm gonna close this up, if any other h-staff member feels that any more decent discussions can come of this, they can always open it back up. I don't see it going anywhere, though.
