Hi, I know this might be a really stupid/easy to answer question but each time I drag the icons around on my Desktop they won't stay there. I mean when I arrange them the way I like them and turn the computer off then all of them will be on the side. Any help?

Right click somewhere on the desktop --> View --> Deselect "Auto Arrange."

I found an article about what may be your problem.
"If you switch resolutions a lot you've probably experienced the problem with Windows moving your icons around every time it switches to a lower resolution, such as when playing a video game or hooking up your laptop to an external display."
Have you done any of this recently? Here is the article if you want to look into it, can't say it's only for those reasons but try what is listed there.

The only "resolution" thing that I have is the screen. I mean on my family's accounts on my computer the screen is widened. On mine its normal :/

In addition to deselecting "Auto Arrange," also try deselecting any other sort fields like Name, Date Created/Modified, Kind, Size, etc.

I discovered this very problem just days after I updated my computers with Win7 and purchased office 2010 Pro. Not being able to arrange my icons within a folder and verious other reasons, I will be buying Macs in the next 12-18 months. All of my computers are less than 6 months old.
