What big a deal he is making out of this! Lilice thought. First of all, Boris was nevertheless a prisoner, a criminal in himself. Second, am I really expected to assume full responsibility for Witchmon's actions? Third, she didn't even kill him. She didn't even try to. Heh, this is simply a bad stroke of luck for me.
Lilice then turned to Witchmon, who was just staring at Yuki the whole time.
"It's all right. I know it was your fault, but let's just say I'm feeling ready."
"But Lilice!" Witchmon said in a sweet and caring voice--a voice she did not normally speak in. "You could be deleted!"
"Then let's say I will let you accompany me on our new quest."
Lilice then turned to Yuki.
"It's funny. You're an orphan, and I'm a minister of an occult church. Anyways, nevertheless I accept your little mission. Witchmon and I would be thrilled to find out what that helmet head is up to."
With that, Lilice walked out of the room, and Witchmon followed behind.

Minutes later, Lilice and Witchmon were walking through a duct. The hum of engines and reactors sounded all around them, and an absence of electric lights created an eerie darkness. But nevertheless, the two remained calm--or at least Lilice did. Witchmon began to worry a little bit.
"What was our captain thinking?" Witchmon commented. "Sending us on a dangerous mission like this! If you ask me, he's overreacting..."
"Oh, I see," Lilice reassured the little witch Digimon. "But don't worry. It's just basically a struggle against another Digimon."
"A Mega-level one," Witchmon pointed out.
"Ah, you've never been to Mega level before. And you've only become Bastemon once before. But this is different. Our mission is not to defeat him--just to check out what he's doing. We've spied on people before. Or at least I have. You remember that underground society we managed to discover without detection, right? We'll be all right. We just have to throw on the old black cloaks--figuratively--and look tough. And when all else fails..."
Lilice noticed that Witchmon had her head bowed, and she seemed nervous.
"...Don't worry. I'll protect you, my beloved digital partner, at all costs."
"Not the three dreaded words, 'at all costs'..."
At this point, Witchmon was sobbing.
"You were right, it is my fault... I am not your responsibility. You should not be blamed for what I have done. I...I should be the one going out to spy on the deputy-commander, on my own... though... I... It wasn't a big deal! How could have I gotten myself into this?!"
And at that point, Witchmon was crying.
Lilice knelt down beside Witchmon.
"It's all right, really. You know, this is kind of my fault. If I had decided to take interest in what the rest of the group was doing, you wouldn't have had a sudden urge to get involved and do something drastic. So, I should be the one on this mission too. But enough of that. We still have a mission to complete. So let's just remain calm and innocent. Think of this as just an afternoon social. Please, do not feel in debt."
"Why do we have to go on this stupid sidequest anyways?" Witchmon asked. "Why can't we just go back and help the others on the main mission?"
"Because he doesn't trust us at the moment--and believe me, I don't blame him. Let's just get this over with, and then we'll join up with everyone else. Hmm? How does that sound?"
Neither Lilice nor Witchmon said anything as they made their way towards the room where the Deputy Commander was.
