Hi, I've been searching for an high speed internet that I can get (I can't get regular cable or dsl because i live to far from town) in my area. And well i found Direct Way..it high speed internet by sattilite...what I want to know is.. is it worth geting for the price they have? Under what coditions does it go out (can not access the internet)?

    Thank you

o_O Um... your best bet would be to get in touch with a sales representative or something from the company itself - you can ask all the questions you want that way and you'll probably get the superior answers.

I've heard satellite internet is bad for gaming and stuff since it has a really slow upload time. Plus, I assume it would work the same way as satellite TV - during stormy weather and stuff like that, it would be out of commission due to the inability to access the satellites.. or whatever. o.o

well i talked to some one who had it and she said that they can download rather big programs in under than 3 minutes...she said its speed it 300MBPS(mega bytes per second)...but im worried that like if it is cloudy outside that it will be unable to communitcate with the sattilite

Well lightning is right and it would not work in bad weather but It should atleast work during overcast or rain. But I dont have it so Im quessing.

Ok, thanx...im guna take Lightling's advice and call and ask tons of questinos..thanx for your help

PS-you can close this if you want i have no more need for it.

Monodirectional Internet Over Satelite is good for downloads. You'll absolutely fly through them. But uploads are at 33k, and pings are in the 1500ms range.
Good if you're a leech, though.

I'll leave this open if anyone wants to discuss Satelite Net s'more

Thanx for leavin it open..what exactly is a upload?? *shakes head in embarasment*

When you SEND things to the internet. A request for a webpage, an email, etc.

Ok, thanx..any idea on how slow?!?!?...slow like dial up internet..or just slower than everything else it does (downloads)....

It uses a Dialup Connection for the upstream.
So uploading will be as slow as dialup.

I tried to get bellsouth but i live to d@mn for to get it*goes outside and starts pushing the house closer to town*
