Did they change how this move works?

Near the end of the game when I was heading Towards Victory Road I found A Double battle against some Ace trainers. I send out Doublade With Evolite and Charizard while they Have a Vileplume and Wailord.

I immediately Mega evolve charizard and fly, Wailord uses Amnesia, My Doublade Shadow Claws the Wailord and Brings it into Yellow while Vileplume Paralyzes Doublade with Stun spore.

Next turn Fly Hits Vileplume Knocking it out, Wailord Dives And Somehow my Doublade Hits it with Shadow Claw.

The only thing I can think of is that we were fighting in a field so there was no Water for it to dive under, Or maybe it's a glitch. Any thoughts?

Doesn't Doublade have No Gaurd as an ability? If he does, he'll hit anything every time.

But it works both ways as well. My Machamp from HG had this too. I foolishly tought him dig, only to remember too late that he was still vulnerable underground because of it

I completely forgot about No Guard! Although to be honest, Even if I did I still didnt know it hit Pokemon that were using Fly/Dig/Dive/Bounce Good to know.
