Since it's becoming a thing in some 3DS games, do you think X and Y will have DLC? If so, what kinds of DLC?

I hope so. Maybe we should have some Pokemon with Hidden Abilities, or version-exclusive Pokemon that we can't get usually. Maybe there'll be a new town with a new gym? We don't know, but that's what I'm thinking at the moment.

I certainly think they will, not sure of the content though. I'd like an expansion to gameplay, new 'objectives' and other content along those lines.

They said during E3 that they weren't doing DLC's yet. They'll look into it, but I doubt they'll have anything for us.

Really? I think I missed that...I don't remember them saying that.

What about apps like the dream radar that can be compatible with X & Y?
Or is that classified as DLC? ...

Apps aren't DLC as they aren't downloadable content specifically added to the games. A huge issue with cartridge DLC is that it has to be programmed into the hard code fore the game and unlocked through outside extensions. If they didn't initially plan dlc then they can put a lot of stress on the cartridge when they add to it later which usually ends up with coding glitches that have potential to harm your game since all the data saves into the cartridge.

It was part of the developer's Q and A. It was one of the top three questions Matsuda didn't want asked which could play out two ways. With the response he gave it sounds like its not something they want to try to do.

Please, no. DLC is the plague of modern gaming. I don't want GF to sell an unfinished game that you need to fill with overpriced DLC.

Although it'd be a cool way to add additional things into the game, which I'd personally love to see, I doubt actually foresee it happening. As Xander pointed out, it has to be hard-coded into the games initially to support the downloads. Although it certainly has a lot of potentially, I feel like Game Freak/Nintendo have always focused on having a more full-fledged story and an endless amount of possibilities for continued play, which meant that DLC wasn't necessary. It was always more about connecting with others to enhance your game experience, not just add random content to extend the game. Plus, making DLC would take away from the effort of making the (hopefully) next games that would follow after X/Y.

Although I'd love to see DLC added to maybe add previous regions/a more expansive post-game experience, I'd also just be happy having that in the original cartridge. Gen V took a step in the right directions by having the Seven Sage hunt. I'd much rather having the standard post-game options, plus something (hopefully) more expansive than that to kind of wrap-up all the loose ends of the story.

DLC will most likely include outfits, UI skins, and other fluff things. I think special Pokemon will still be restricted to location-based events, although they might happen close in time frame now due to the simultaneous international release.

I personally hope that they give us more story content via DLC, i.e. missions, training opportunities, etc... And I sincerely hope that they give us most of the DLC for free. Only because Nintendo makes it very annoying to load money, and I also don't trust their system-tied accounts thing (it would be more comforting to me if they had a traditional username and password).

I'm not expecting anything too sophisticated in terms of DLC for this generation. Probably just the event pokemon and some clothes for customizing our charactes.

Maybe a few generations from now we'll start seeing DLC locations or regions.

This actually makes me wonder. It almost feels like the sequel to this generation is downloadable content itself, but at the expense of having to start the adventure over if you have the prequel. I think GameFreak will do a sequel like so in the previous five generations, rather than DLC, which is a little disappointing because sequels are more expensive.

We've had DLC in generation 5 and I don't see why they would stop. Although its been nothing major like entire new zones, DLC has still been happening. The downloadable tournaments are actually pretty neat.

If they add as much content as BW2 there really isn't a need for a lot of new areas and stuff, anyway. In addition to the types of DLC we've been getting, I'm sure there will be stuff like outfits and minigames for Pokemon-amie.

With Super Luigi U, they're experimenting on the whole DLC expansion pack thing. Hopefully it's really successful and Nintendo decides to apply that kind of "sequel" to Pokemon X and Y.

Most likely the DLC will be clothing and accessories maybe different hairstyles or colors all kinds of stuff.

if they do dlc, i hope that it is for like little side missions, u know to obtain special pokes similare to obtianing the extreme speed dratine(sorry about my spelling)

I certainly hope we get DLC. Something like a side mission pack to add to the story so that once I've beaten I'm not aimlessly grinding or filling my Pokedex. I'd love to get to travel back to past regions too.

They could even use DLC as the Ruby / Sapphire remakes. You'd get to go to Hoenn as your trainer, and you'd have to leave your current Pokemon in Kalos (until you beat the Hoenn elite 4 or whatever) and start a new journey.

That is actually a really good idea. I wish I'd thought of it haha. That or everyone in Hoehn could just be at higher levels, which would make training your Pokemon a lot easier than grinding in whatever Route has the highest leveled wild Pokemon or something.

If stuff like this have to be hard coded into the game first, then couldn't those event items that unlocked certain event Pokemon (Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Genesect drives) be counted as free DLC? If so, then we've been getting DLC all along, and this can continue on to X and Y.
