I hope you have as much fun with 7 as I did. Seems to be the biggest love-hate series in the franchise, and it is pretty obvious why. For me the wacky stuff is what sets Macross away from other more standard mecha series, 7 takes that to a new level.

Plus has the most creative idol music and the love triangle isn't as retarded.

In the second game, the villains from the first game are revealed to be doing so to save their hometown from falling off the edge of the world

Macross 7, all things considered, was kind of the ZZ Gundam of the Macross franchise so to speak. Heck, I don't even know whether I should love or dislike it because of how random and cheesy the whole series was as a whole (In terms of well....everything).

And yeah, Macross Plus had some of the most creative idol music, and was a masterpiece in terms of love triangles and story telling, enough to give DYRL a run for its money.
