Do books or movies ever make you cry?

I dropped our local phone book on my foot. I cried immediately upon impact.

To answer the question, no. But then again, the books that I read, which include automobile overhaul manuals, hotel directories, and tax documents, aren't really written to evoke any sort of strong emotion.

As for other media, the anime Clannad After Story almost brought me to tears. But not quite.

Yea, but really it depends on the movie and I'm kinda a sucker for the scenes where they confess there love in movies, games, manga, and especially anime, like Inuyasha, where Muroku told Sango he loved her, I loved that part! >_<

Well, I cry at pretty much everything. I'm a big cry baby.

In particular, Dumbo and the Little Princess always make my cry.

Books that made me tear up were Pretty Little Dirty and Lord of the Flies.

there have been several occasions in which i wanted to cry, but the tears just never seem to come out

even though it's not a movie, several episodes of code geass (i've only watched season 1 so far)
episodes: shirley at gunpoint, geass vs geass, a bloodstained euphy, at least with sorrow, and zero

also, a coupla music videos/songs

Yes... I must get the "wrong" movies or books! I make sure I am "careful" when watching movies with friends... joys of being male I suppose (don't want to be seen crying).

I'll be honest, I'm not one to cry when it comes to fictional books or films. When it comes to film though, there may be more of a chance that a tear will trickle down my skin inn contrast with a book. I don't recall a time in which I've cried during a film, but i know I have had a few moments when I've been encaptured by a storyline, by a character by an expression.

In saying that I might come across as one who would rather see a good film than read a great book. But that's not the case, I just feel that when I read, the voice of certain characters in not portrayed the way it should be, that's because I haven't got a great imagination when it comes to getting an image of sadness in my head like a book may try to force upon you. Movies tend to get the emotions across a little better.

The irony is that I've recalled a time ine which I've shed a tear when reading a book, and that book was "The Book of Lost Things" by John Connolly. I only cried because the story ended. It was my favourite book, and it -in a way-, brought me from adolescence to the yound-adulthood I see now.

I've only "cried" once during a movie or book
Book: Bridge to Terabithia- i LOVE this book- it's so sad at the end though- mainly because i didn't expect it at all!
Movie:..... Bridge to Terabithia heheh: even knowing what was going to happen, i still got teary eyed

Pan's Labyrinth is a pretty good movie, but It didn't make me cry.
In fact; no book, movie, videogame, anime, manga, TV Show or song has ever made me cry; it's pretty hard to make me cry.

Books that made me teary, well, I don't remember any ATM.
Movies, 7, Pan's Labyrinth and some others.
Anime, 5 Centimeters per Second is the only one I can remember ATM.
TV Shows, well, in Ghost Whisperer, I was like OMFGWTHIGH when
Spoiler:
.
Videogames, oh well, I think It was FFX (Don't remember) and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. Those endings were both pretty unexpected.

TV Shows, well, in Ghost Whisperer, I was like OMFGWTHIGH when
Spoiler:
.

I remember coming home from being out drinking with my Mum in tears and I was like "WOAH WTF HAPPENED?", I thought it was something serious, she had me worried. D:

I used to watch the show with her but it got a bit to much imo, everything bad that could happen did happen, felt forced imo. :G

Movies can make me cry pretty easily. I just watched The Time Traveler's Wife last night and it made me cry. Books, not as much.

Movies that made me cry:

Spoiler:

Tv shows:

Eddie Guerrero's farewell on WWE.
The end of Azumanga Daioh, when they all go off on their own.

Games:

Well I just finished Flowers for Algernon recently and it made me sob. Not just a small tear, I SOBBED.

It's about a 32 year old Retardate named Charlie Gordon who works at a bakery and has a horrific and terrifying past. Luckily he can't remember it. Despite being Retarded he goes to a special school at the local college, and he has learned to read and write (not very well though). But then he is enrolled in a special experiment by his teacher. Scientists have found a way to increase intelligence artificially through surgery and subliminal messaging. Charlie then decided to keep a journal of his progress (which is what the book is. It's his journal.). One of the tests he has to frequently do is a maze with a white mouse named Algernon. He has to solve a paper maze before Algernon can solve his wooden one. Algernon had the surgery as well and is much smarter than most of the other mice. As Charlie gains intelligence he realizes that his Co-workers have been belittling and abusing him. He then becomes above average. His I.Q. skyrockets to 200. He confesses his love for the teacher, and overcomes sudden memories of a horrendous childhood. Despite his vast intelligence grander than the scientist who gave it to him, he is still treated like a child and a labe experiment. He finds out later that he will lose his intelligence after studying Algernon. Algernon dies right before the intelligence drops. Charlie loses all of the intelligence he worked so hard to get very quickly. He then finishes the journal telling all of his loved ones that he is going to a mental institute. The last sentence is "p.s. pleese remimber to put flowers on algernon's grave."

Anyways, I cried for about 5 minutes after reading it. I love how books can make you feel empathy for character's that don't even exist.

I can't say no. I eventually cried at the end of the first "Dragon Heart" movie. I hated it when Draco died ~_~
Also, "Pearl Harbour" and "Titanic", "Les Choristes", and I naturally cried when I first saw Mufasa's death x] Aaaand I can't seem to remember the others x/
And I don't read often, so yaaaah xD

Ya, I would say many times.

Some movies and books which are emotional make me cry.

Ok first off, I'd say I was just a normal lad. I like football (or soccer for you Americans), action movies, guns, explosions, working out - really manly things! Grrrr, I am man, hear me roar! I don't cry at much, Infact I can't really remember the last thing I cried at.
But there is, however, something that ALWAYS makes me cry.
Though It's not a specific movie...
It's a little embarrassing.... Whenever I see Jennifer Garner cry in movies it makes me cry.
I don't know why, but I weep like a little girl when I see her cry haha.

EDIT: Actually there was one other thing I thought of after I seen this comment

I cried at this movie the first time I seen it.

Films - Black Hawk Down; One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Music - All Along The Watchtower; Clubbed To Death
Literature - The Bible; Robin Hood

It is common knowledge that I ended a regional drought with the tears from those examples.
