Do You Believe In Fate?

Then they werent small choices. It was a drastic choice, and you just didn't know it.
Remember how I said that you may not know its a drastic choice? That would be an example.

Its fate that it turned out to be a drastic choice, other than your usual every-day choices.

Why must you all link God or gods into your post about fate?
Fate is not a Christain-Exclusive concept.

And you not following 'God's' plan is fate also. It all plays out for some purpose in the end. Whether the purpose was 'what you wanted' doesent matter. God forbid, for all you or I know, the next purpose of my life is to be dead. Thats why all of our decisions will play a part in our fate eventually...

It doesn't matter, small or drastic choice, it can effect whatever was "suppose" to happen.

You link your religion to this, because (For example) my god saved me for my sins. The gift he gave us was free will. Free will over your life, not breathing and stuff(toothache). And Freewill over your life means doing what you want to do. Whether it's kill yourself, play this lottery, change religions, whatever! These choices makeup of your ultimate life.

Right, some end up better than others and vice versa(sp?). But everyone can end up with a good life if they make the right decisions in life. But we dont because other people choose other decisions in life. Of course you may not end up how you want to, but who cares if you have the next best thing, god's plan.

It was fate that you made those choices. Its already been planned out, and even if you defy fate(figure out what your fate is somehow and do the opposite) then it was fate, that made you do that also. That is fate, you're just looking at it from a different point of view.
Really wierd, huh?

For example,
If you are fated to grow up and be rich, then you will become rich(unless there is a drastic choice involved)

how i got rich?
-Studied hard in school, made straight A's, etc
-Went to college, studied in engineering, etc.
-Became part of Navy/AirForce/Army,etc as an officer(you get ranking -automatically cuz of college)
-Then applied at NASA to become an astronaut(acceptance because of college studies and application as an officer)
-Go to moon and find new element.
-You're rich

Different scenario
-you fail in school and cuss out teachers etc.
-get caught smoking pot, and recieve warning/rehab/weeklytesting
-you shoot 25 people and get off death penalty due to 'mental problems'< 5 years in prison
-when you are released, you take rehab classes
-you become an old fat smoking man and you drink and do drugs
-one day you get caught selling cocaine
-more rehab, 6 months in jail
-you buy a lottory ticket and you choose the right numbers
-you're rich

See how it all works out in the end? You must look at the big picture. In these scenarios, none of the decisions are drastic(although they may seem very much so...)

A drastic decision would change the end result.
For example, if the person shot the judges at the court trial. Then they are put in prison for life or death penalty. No being rich.

The definition of 'drastic' is stretched in the post, but I think you all get the idea.

SEXAYBrittany15 (02:24:51 AM) (02/08/2004): heres the bottom line- we can never relive our life, so we can never know if what has happend to us was the work of fate or not.

Ok, we've got somwhere. So, the question is do you believe it is fate or not?

Um, I personally do not believe in fate. I think that the choices and decisions I make in my life will affect the outcome- not that it's destiny that certain things occur. I live by my own choices, not by what's apparently "planned out for me." Everything that I do in my life is because of me, not because it was predetermined by someone else. o.O

One definition is missing... or at least for my point of view.

5. God planned actions

IF this definition is included, I'll say yes... otherwise no.

I believe (well I have to) that fate govern's lives. You can, however, change fate to suit your personality. But, be careful, playing with your own fate will alter many things...

Well, I think fate is just a genral concept on what your life is supposed to be focused on not just one thing that your whole life has been building up to. Fate just guides you in the right direction to help to achive your goals. In the end its more or less up to you to decide what you do with it.

We can never really know if fate is true though, because we can never re-live our lives, to see if there could have been a different outcome.

It is just a matter of whether you think that our lives were planned out for us(certain actions were fated to happen). Or if you believe that something totally different could have become of us.

I, for one, believe that we are somehow tied to fate in ways unknown.

Hmm, we should build a time-machine. That way I can 100% sure that fate is real.

This is a big topic, fate is deeply tied with destiny. Meaning your actions are set to a degree...God wants us to beleive in Him, he has set a place for each one of us...its up to us to decide if we should beleive or not. We control our own destiny but there can only be two kinds of fate...either we go to Heaven or we go to ****.
