Do you even lift, bruh?

So for the first time in my 22 years of existence, I tried lifting weights last night. For health reasons, there was a sudden need for me to look out after my well-being. I wasn't really into that before. So, I had my weekly basketball session, badminton, and in the off-days, I decided to lift weights.

I had my friend accompany me to the gym and he started me on the basics. Bench presses and all that stuff. I'm not yet familiar with the terms as I just started.

Well, my point here is that, it hurts so much. I can't even fold my arms by the elbow because the joints hurt. My friend told me that it was natural since I wasn't accustomed into doing that but I never imagined it to hurt like that.

Why must being healthy and fit be this painful? Is there a more enjoyable way of doing this? I'll be hitting it again tonight, so I hope this improves. Wish me luck.
