Does Ketchum sound like Catch em?

Giving Ash the surname Ketchum was deliberate, as it was supposed to sound like "Catch 'em" as in "Gotta Catch 'em All!" I remember reading that in some Nintendo Magazine... ^^

I've got a friend who's last name is Ketchum... Spelled the same way, too... Kinda ironic, considering he absolutely hates anime of all sorts >.<

uhhh...to me Ketchum sounds more like ketchup XDDDDD

and when they used gotta catch 'em all as a slogan (do they still use that?) i was like what the <something i can't say on pc> was that?

That was so obvious Shining Arcanine.
You mean you haven't noticed it all this while?
My brother and I often make fun of his name by calling him "Ash Ketchup" instead :D :P
My brother and i do that too! XD Gotta agree that they did a lame job in making surnames for them. >"< I think in the japanese version, they didn't have any. n_n;

Meh, I never bothered to look at his last name.. :\ Reminds me of ketchup, tho.

Kinda cute :\

*gets killed by smilies*

XD Well... I'm actually surprised you didn't come across some sort of website giving that theory sooner, Shining Arcanine... it's been around since the beginning of the anime series in NA. ^_^;;

The "ketchup episode" was the greatest. Pikachu was adorable when its ketchup bottle broke. XD

Ketchum did sound a lot like Ketchup. That's y I didn't catch on! I finally did when I read somewhere, "Way to Catch 'em, Ketchum!"
