Domain recommendations.

    Ok I want a domain for my site, instead of a subdomain, so I want to know which domains you guys suggest. For now I will be using .TK for a free one, but as soon as I can afford good things (and get good site content) I want to buy a domain. I personally don't want a .com because all good ones are basically taken.. I always have liked .net but it seems it's going the way of the .com with availibility. Personally I have always wanted a .jp one (although I live in America.... Go figure) and although they are expensive (100 USD and up ( I've seen for 60 before in one place only)) , I happen to like them. My main concern is that people will see it in a search engine and automatically think it's a site with japanese content and if .JP domains (well any international domains) are listed as well on Google as say, a .com site. Anyway, if anyone can give advice that would be appreciated. Also if you know any good cheap sites for domains, feel free to post 'em. Thanks in advance.

    Ah of course.... I'm still working that out, lol Something SHORT that involves the word Chaos or Kaos...

    That's a nice name.
     
    The problem is... I don't want a domain name with anything pokemon related to it. My site (or site in progress) isn't just centered around Pokemon, it's centered around my creative work.

    Heck I'm having the same problem. I'm makeing a mythical creature site and can't find a name for it. Of cource I still want .com for it, the popular one. Maybe creativekaos hehehe....
     
    Just before you get your heart set on having a .jp domain, you should probably research any restrictions upon those. =\ I know that .ca (Canada) domains require you to be a Canadian citizen or have a business in Canada, etc. The Japanese domains may have similar rules associated with them. ^_^;

    What kind of creative work? Fanart? Fanfics? Or mixtures of anything?
    K/Chaossplash.net are available but they might be long...and not catchy enough.
     
    Hm... Lighting, I've already done research on that matter. Some of the registration sites do require you to have a .JP address, but the ones I looked at create a japanese address for you.
    Purin: My site is going to be basically about: My artwork (probably including flash), My writing (not just fanfics), Essay's on different subjects, stuff on my interest (anime/mangas, games, shows etc.) and maybe a few other things. I don't want a long domain name. Actually there is a specific domain I want. I want the domain name Kaosu and Kaosu.com and Kaosu.net are taken, but Kaosu.jp is open.

    Well, there you go. Your decision's been made! But you'd better get in and register it before it's gone.
     
    You should make a succesful site before you go out and buy a domain. People think domains bring hits, well, they dont. Make a nice site then wait awhile, THEN buy a domain. Thats when you can think of a domain name also... But do it now and i bet it will waste your money. Make sure the site is doing good and you KNOW it will be around for awhile, then buy a domain. There is my advice.
     
    some registrar's will let youu register any 'cc' domain as long as you also have the common ones. (.com, .net, .org, etc..) but it's really up to the company registering the domain.
