WARNING, THE FOLLOWING SPOILER CONTAINS ANGER FILLED, RAGE INDUCED, BAD DAY HAVING WORDS. IF YOU ARE NOT OFFENDED BY THIS FEEL FREE TO OPEN IT AND ENTER THE RAGE.
Spoiler:Let me describe my anger like this. As soon as I got out into the school yard I yelled at the top of my voice. And I mean really loud.
So, I came into school, ready to go thru my Friday so I could GET ONTO MY WEEKEND. And my teacher told me that all the boys had to go to another class while the girls went to the community centre for something called 'Womyn to Womyn (yes, I did spell it right)'. So I was like, "Okay, I understand why the boys can't go, it's logical."
So, at said class we were discussing the stereotypical quality of a 'Man'. And here's where the ANGER comes into play (If I had a blog I'd write it there). With no prior knowledge we were volunteered to clean up the yard. This yard. I, seeing how this was unfair and sexist, refused. I was sent to the office.
There I was given a one sided yelling to by a teacher. You know the kind, a cop and then the secretary decided to tell me that there's a law that says we have to clean up trash. Luckily, we weren't, we were cleaning up the leaves. He left.
After 3 hours of waiting the Vice-Principle finally decided to speak to me. Where he told me that the girls were thinking of ways to cleanup the yard that the boys would do. There was this one day the girls wouldn't be there and decided this was the time to have the boys do something worth while. I was shocked at the insane amount of sexism towards his own gender that he thought was okay.
Also, he said the boys would think of something to clean up the yard buy MAYBE, quote, MAYBE the girls would do it. This goes without saying, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Did he even notice that the guys weren't being treated as well? Or am I just being a one sided, sexist hack?
I know that women have less rights than men (or at least that's what my teacher was telling me some time later) but that doesn't excuse the fact that just because we're men and we have nothing else to do, we have to do something THEY HAVE PEOPLE THEY PAY TO DO (not that I did it).
I come to school to LEARN, not to WORK. If I wanted child labor I'd volunteer at a community centre. And that was just the morning.
