I'll be playing on Crystal with Teddiursa and Gastly, if that's okay.
(Teddiursa isn't on the list in the first post, but it appears rarely in the entrance of Dark Cave.)

Made my way out of Union Cave.
Mom called and bought me a Moon Stone(YAYYY!!)
Booted Team Rocket out of Slowpoke Well
Beat Bugsy's bugs and got the Hive Badge
Beat Trey and made my way through Ilex Forest
Evolved Nidorina with the Moon Stone
Made Whitney cry and got the Plain Badge
Saved at the Goldenrod PokeCenter.

flew to goldenrod and took care of rocket in the radio tower and basement.
received clear bell.
flew back to mahogany and made my way through ice path into blackthorn city.
defeated clair and took my test in the dragons den.
recieved the eighth badge.

Bite (Damn you ghosts and psychics, flinch time)
Extremespeed (Priority move w/ 80 power is good)
Flame Wheel (STAB move, Grassers and Bugs go down swiftly, and Steels are usually OHKO'd)
Iron Tail (filler move)

Poliwrath - Tirade, Lv 53
DynamicPunch (Not sure about DynamicPunch, but good 'nuff for me - it OHKO'd Umbreon on first turn - Takes Darks n' Normals on, STABed high power move)
Ice Punch (Dragons and Flying, prepare for a challenge! Grounds are handled better by STABed Surf)
Earthquake (Electrics... and... Poisons... are taken down by this pesky attack)
Surf (Fires, Rocks, and Grounds, meet your doom! STAB, does good damage)

So I'll have trouble with Water and Fighting types. Meh.

I haven't died... I'm still in the challenge, and I'm back with another update. :D I won't have Internet access for the next couple of days, though, so I probably won't get another update in before Sunday.

~June 19th, 2009~

-Started through the Ice Path
-Obtained HM07, Waterfall, inside the Ice Path
-Taught Waterfall to Gyarados
-Managed to make it out of the Ice Path, and arrived in Blackthorn City
-Headed for the Gym and whooped Clair's underlings, then Clair (I did fairly well, considering I had a rather poor selection of moves to use against Dragon-types. Ampharos was able to take two Hyper Beam attacks easily. But then again, I had an advantage of about 6 levels…)
-Listened to Clair whine about how I wasn't worthy, then went to take the "dragon user challenge"
-Entered the Dragon's Den
-Discovered my pack was full upon trying to obtain the Dragon Fang (darn it…)
-Used my last Super Repel to free up space, then grabbed the Dragon Fang
-Met up with Clair again (how did she get here so fast?), and received the Rising Badge! Also received TM24, Dragonbreath!
-Left the Dragon's Den, was immediately phoned by Elm
-Headed south the Route 45
-Decided to explore the Dark Cave on the way
-Received some Blackglasses from a fellow hanging out near the back of the cave
-Somehow wound up at the Route 31 exit
-Flew back to Blackthorn, entered the Dark Cave again, took a different route, and still ended up at the Route 31 exit
-Flew back to Blackthorn again and started down Route 45
-Found another entrance to Dark Cave
-Discovered I needed Rock Smash to proceed… finally gave in and taught Rock Smash to Gyarados
-Made my way through Dark Cave and ended up… 3 guesses where… (Hint: It's the Route 31 exit)
-I'll spare the rest of the details, but let's just say I eventually made it back to New Bark Town
-Dropped in at Elm's Lab and received the Master Ball!
-Before leaving Johto, decided to visit Mt. Mortar again, now with Waterfall at my disposal

(The item Slowpoke is holding is a Nugget... I had to stash it somewhere to free up Pack space at one point in time)

Okay, so I know I technically haven't been accepted yet, but I'm going to be gone for the next week or so, and I figured I'd go ahead and post my first update before I leave.

Update #1

Spoiler:

- Chose girl, named her Psiren.
- Started with Cyndaquil.
- Ran Elm's errand, got my Pokedex.
- Beat my rival. (Silver)
- Caught a Geodude (level 3 Male; Future HM Slave) in Dark Cave.
- Went to Sprout Tower, caught my Gastly (level 4 Male).
- Deposited Cyndaquil in the PC.
- Caught a Hoot-Hoot (level 5 Female; Future HM Slave).
- Took a break, and came back in the Morning.
- Went back to Dark Cave and caught my Teddiursa (level 2 Female).
- Leveled up Teddiursa and Gastly for a while.
- Got Flash from Sprout Tower.
- Defeated Falkner.
- Got the Mystery Egg.

I have returned after a long lay off from crystal (i got really into my platinum)

-decided to keep eevee for post challenge reasons
-did well against all the rockets, as well as my rival
-got the clear bell, no suicune for me yet though
-made my way to the ice path
-caught delibird with one quick ball
-found HM07, taught it to Chinchou
-caught sneasel in a level ball
-really wish i had some repels
-made it to blackthorn
-praying to the poke-gods that the quick claw works in the gym
-slightly concerned that machamps ice punch didn't OHKO a coll trainers dragonair...second times the charm though, as it did OHKO the next dragonair i battled
-OHKO'd clair's first dragonair
-the second one BARELY survived, got a thunder wave, the cured it, and it used dragon breathe to paralys me AGAIN, i cured again, it paralysed me AGAIN. wasted 3 items on that unlucky exchange
-critical hit on third dragonair
-it came close with kingdra, but i pulled it out.
-passed the dragon test and got the raising badge
-got the extremespeed dratini, its a shame i cant use it
-after getting all 8 badges, typhlosion and machamp are both at level 49
-HM slaves are bellsprout (cut), spearow (fly), and chinchou (surf, waterfall, whirlpool)

-Got bored with Mr. Mortar (No Repels = Not Fun)
-Flew to New Bark and Surfed out east to Kanto
-Waterfalled my way through Tohjo Falls
-Barged into the first house, and received TM37, Sandstorm
-Beat all the trainers on Route 27 and followed up with the ones on Route 26
-Arrived at the reception gate
-Presented my eight Johto League badges, got the thumbs up to go on ahead
-Breezed through that sad excuse for a Victory Road
-Took on Kamon just before leaving, and steamrolled his Feraligatr, Sneasel, Golbat, Magneton, Kadabra, and Haunter
-Arrived at the Pokemon League main entrance
