    Let be honest.
They suck. from R/S to FR/LG
sure the graphics are better. but thats it.
    Think about it:

-The 386 pokedex. actually take a look at it. there are a lot of good ones i admit, but there are also a ton of really really idiotic ones. the first 151 are da best! the rest are just wannabees. luvdisc? Come on! they really need to be more selective. quality over quantity.

-from the metal/color generation, people really got screwed on the whole "one pokemon no one can catch so u can never win ha ha ha ha" stuff. i really hate nintendo for that. and now in r/s fr/lg its WAY worse. with the "tickets", the deoxys, and a few pokemon you JUST cant get. what the @#&*($#@? all kinds of dumb roadblocks. just mean.

-the plot. it gets really old after a while. running back and forth. one rival. one team of bad guys. and , as ive said, YOU CANT complete the pokedex without cheating.

now, im not saying these games can't be fun, and i do admit there are a lot of great now sidequests and additions that inject a little bit of life into them. but the core of the game is what matters. and the core is rotten.
feel free to flame me. but keep to the topic.

It's not fair to bash the other games in the series just because you don't like them. And that's the key word, series. They're all of the same genre. They're all Pokemon.

They all have the same plot and playing style, there's no reason to hate one over the other. I enjoy all the generations equally, since they all have their good parts.

G/R/B/Y = The classics, the ones that started it all. You can't not love the primitive graphics, cause thats what makes it so great, to see how far the series has come. I frequently look at the old Green Version sprites and say stuff like, "WHOA. That is not what (Pokemon) looks like. :p"

G/S/C = A bigger, more in-depth game, with better graphics and has alot to do in it. Even after you beat the game, there's so much more you can still do. Linking them with Pokemon Stadium 2 only enhances their greatness. The Pokemon are now shaped into a final form, finalizing their looks.

R/S/E = Of course, the same concept as the last 2 generations, but now the graphics and feel of the gameplay are advanced even further. Now with natures to enhance Pokemon's stats and an even bigger movepool to choose from, making a team in this game has never been so crucial. With the addition of over 100 new Pokemon, making a team has never felt so brand-new, either.

FR/LG = Gigantic improvement on the original generation. Personally, I love how the remade music sounds, it is very rich, and the sprites are perfectly drawn and brightly colored. Of course, there is the addition of the Sevii Islands, the new, and destructive Deoxys a double challenge from the Elite Four and another great gaming experience that proves an old dog can learn new tricks.

Look at Magikarp, Lickitung, Goldeen, Venonat and others. Those are all severely underused and "crappy" Pokemon. You'll hardly ever see anyone use those Pokemon competitively unless someone is just doing it for fun.

Nobody ever said it was impossible to get those Pokemon. And nobody ever said it wasn't unfair to use an enhancement device for that purpose. Many people don't live in NY or don't go out of their way to go to PCNY, so the next best thing is to use a device to input them into your game. It's almost the same thing, except that they're not "official." But, a Pokemon is a Pokemon, eh?

-the plot. it gets really old after a while. running back and forth. one rival. one team of bad guys. and , as ive said, YOU CANT complete the pokedex without cheating.

Isn't that how they all are? And does it really feel old? Of course not. You're on a quest to thwart the evil Team's Rocket, Magma or Aqua's plans and achieve your status as Pokemon Master. The EASY way to complete the game is through cheating. But, if you look hard enough you can find all those rare Pokemon by yourself.

Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres can be obtained in Ru/Sa by trading them from FR/LG. Of course, the same holds true for the rest of the Pokemon from the 1st Gen not found in Ru/Sa, with the exception of Mew.

You can obtain several other Pokemon from the 2nd Gen on the Sevii Islands, too. And, depending on what Pokemon you picked in the beginning of the game, you can find either Suicune, Raikou or Entei in the wild.

Of course, Jirachi is on the English Colloseum Pre-order Disc. Celebi is on the Japanese one.

That leaves Mew, Ho-Oh, Lugia and Deoxys. I believe Ho-Oh (as well as other Pokemon) is obtainable in Collosseum, not sure about Lugia. :p If you manage to get to PCNY, that knocks off Lugia and Deoxys.

Strangely, that leaves Mew. I'm more than certain the leftover Pokemon will be featured in Emerald Version, so that completing your PokeDex on the Advanced games will be a possibility!

Okay, that took me way too long to type up. Time for a rest.

    hmmm.....

you make some good points about the pokedex, and i certainly agree about the plot. it is still "fun" no matter how many times you play it.you even make want to reconsider about buying the games.
however, as far as the fact that there are a lot of pokemon you cant catch and roadblocks you cant get past without nintendo events, that is complete bull. you even serve to make my point. unhless you want to buy every version of pokemon, EVER, a gameshark or monsterbrain and CHEAT (only tempting you to cheat for other parts of the game and detracting from the fun), AND buy a gamecube and games to link up, AND go to nintendo sponseored events, you just cant do it. it horrible. it really is.
by the way, you can get mew (a glitch), lugia, ho-oh, the dogs from older games. but jirachi, deoxys, celebi, and a few others just cant be caught. ITS WRONG. JUST WRONG. you should be able to complete a game without buying every product ninteno ever made (you know what i mean). it would not be that hard for them to put in a way to catch those pokemon in each game. i dont even care how near-impossible they make it. as long as it's possible. prove me wrong. eh?

    oh, and emerald is out?
and i havent played fr/lg, which pokedex gen. do they use?

Nichemon, it would've been better to start a calm debate about what people think about the newer games, rather than just bashing them outrightly.
If you wish to continue the debate, please create a calm thread open to varying viewpoints
