Diamond, pearl, platinum. I never liked the new pokemon here. I've played the diamond version. I've got all 8 badges, but the pokemn I used were difficult to beat the elite 4 there. What kind of pokemon do you use in the starters? I chose the water the type. I forgot the name of it. Then my file got delete. O.o So now I have to start it all over again. Well I was wondering does anyone like these version when they first started. Which version should I choose?

I really enjoyed these when I first got it, if I'm honest I didn't really like the new Pokémon in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald (games were still fun overall) and wasn't holding much hope for these. I picked up diamond and I have to say it was the first Pokémon game I liked more than blue (even beating the nostalgia factor). Out of the three games (PDPt) I'd say platinum is best as the shiny added bells and whistles are fun, for the three starters it would be Turtiwig (though that plays in to the nostalgia factor being similar to Bulbasaur who was my first ever Pokémon).

You should be able to make an effective team for the elite four rather easily, personally I like to go through the pokedex (either online or if I've got a book with the pokedex) and pick out all the Pokémon I like and write them down along with their type if I can't remember (and make sure they are available in the game). I then pick six Pokémon from that list that I think would make a good team, make a note of where to catch them and get playing. It shouldn't take too long (take me about 10-15 min at most) as it doesn't have to be perfect by looking at the moves and so on, just general impressions and type.

R/S/E were alot better then D/P/Pts pokemon..
Meh i found this game pretty bad.
The only reason i played it because i was bored out of my head in scotland while i was on holiday. So my friend and I decided to see who could complete first.

The storyline was not enjoyable at all.

I guess Pt. You get alot more.

How could you be bored in Scotland? *Sarcasm*
I'd go with Platinum though, it has more features and a longer story.

I preferred 4th gen storyline, but the new Pokemon introduced didn't interest me. Aside from my starter and a new evolution of an existing Pokemon, my entire team was comprised of Pokemon from the previous generations.

If you do intend to get one of the versions, I have to second the idea of going with Platinum. The storyline is just that more polished.

Yeah, as with most generations, the newer one just has more stuff to do in it. It has tougher Pokemon, more Pokemon, and a slightly different and better storyline IMO. I didn't find anything wrong with the storyline with diamond or pearl, but platinum is better. As mentioned before, I hate most of the new Pokemon based on purely liking them. A lot of them are very useful, but I don't like what they look like. My example is Bronzong. If you take away the two side parts, he looks like a freaking toilet. Here's my example.

Does this not look like a weird totem pole toilet to you?

I do really like Staraptor, Torterra, Bastiodon, Vespiquen, Gastrodon, Spiritomb, Garchomp, Lucario, Drapion, Hippowdon, Rhyperior, and Gallade. That is quite a bit. And I guess that i think all the starters are all right, but as you can see, I don't really have much for Grass other than Torterra. Final moveset is usually like Leaf Storm, Earthquake, Crunch, and Stone Edge. Empoleon usually has like Surf, Steel Wing, Drill Peck, and Earthquake, and Infernape has Close Combat, Mach Punch, Blast Burn, and Flame Wheel.
