So I've been randomizing Gen 2 lately. Specifically, randomizing Pokémon Complex Crystal (mainly a difficulty hack; some base stat totals were increased & move power/PP increased). I've played through twice using Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres as the starting Pokémon options & I'm sort of getting tired of that. I was thinking...

It could be really cool if the 3 starters I put into the game had dual types that were all super effective and resistant to each other. Example...

    Starter 1 - Celebi - Grass / Psychic
    Starter 2 - Houndour/Houndoom - Fire / Dark
    Starter 3 - Poliwag/Poliwhirl/Poliwrath - Water / Fighting

But I'm primarily a genwunner, so I'm not very familiar with the Johto Pokémon. I was wondering if you guys could offer other starter Pokémon dual-type combos that resemble the example I've given. I would really appreciate it.

Celebi is a legendary, so it shouldn't be a starter. Exeggcute and Exeggutor would be better choices, since they're more on par with Houndoom and Poliwrath.

This did occur to me after the post and when trying to think of more examples.

Can you name any more dual-type Pokémon that fit into a starter Pokémon scenario like those above?

Surely Celebi/Exeggutor, Houndoom, and Poliwrath can't be it... can they? I mean, there's so many dual types in Gen 2...

Another one that should work is:

    Hoppip/Skiploom/Jumpluff: Grass / Flying
    Slugma/Magcargo: Fire / Rock
    Poliwag/Poliwhirl/Poliwrath: Water / Fighting
