[Question] Easier Rival

    Similar to FireRed and LeafGreen, Once the player selects a starter Pokémon (Either Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle) the Rival will then choose the type advantage. After that the battle will start and the Rival always seems to win. My question is, is there a way to weaken the Rival or have him choose a different move other than spamming TACKLE or SCRATCH? I have gone into trainertype in the pbs folder and tried lowering the Rivals skill level but it didn't change anything.
     
    Are you asking how to defeat the rival example in essentials?

    Because you can always just grab the demo party from the example mom.
    Also, first rival battles, even in the official games, aren't always won, the game continues whether the player wins or loses.
