Easiest way to get competitive mons?

It depends what mon. I mean, i want a salazzle with fake out. That would be boss, but you have to breed a poke with fake out with a poke that can learn fakeout through an egg move, and then be able to breed that poke with a salandit to get fake out and then probably breed that salandit again until you get a female that by chance gets that move from a parent poke, note its still only a chance. You will probably actually have to breed 200 salandits plus to even get a fake out salandit thats female. Also natures are super important, so getting the perfect egg salazzle thats female is like 1/1000, but thats the worst i can think of.

Basically breeding pokes for special moves or special abilities is the way to go. I spent a long time using berries and power items to get perfect Stats on my pokes. I never actually bothered with breeding. Some rare berries lower stats so you can use the power items bought to increase more desired stats.

There's a feature you can learn from someone standing at the battle tree that shows pokemon potential which can help determine if your poke is boss or not.

Note though, one of my pherimosas registered as the highest grade poke, but it still paled in comparison to my pherimosa with -def/+speed that almost had a level lower grade of potential.

ps, you're going to want to plant a lot of those rare stat lowering berries in poke pelago. They are super rare, i think u can get them at one tree in the whole game.

The easiest way to get competitive mons in my opinion:

Start one breeding project from scratch. Don't make it one that is too hard that requires a lot of egg moves and stuff because you're not optimally set up for it. Also try to make it a pokemon that is either valuable or unusual in that a lot of people who battle competitively might not already have it. Do the SOS chain to get the perfect 4 IVs so you have a decent starting point. If you need to do it twice. Breed your way up to a competitive 5 IV pokemon with the correct nature. After you have your perfect 5 IV pokemon go online to communities like pokecommunity/neoseeker/smogon and trade the 4 IV pokemon that you have left over for 4/5 IV pokemon that other people have left over from their projects. If they want a flawless one just breed another 5 IV pokemon from your existing set (Its pretty easy when you have two 4 IVs). If you started completely from scratch you will have at least 15-20 mons with 3-4 IVs that can be traded for other pokes with decent IVs that you can use to ramp up your breeding operation.

Sometimes if you get lucky people from communities like this one might give you a decent pokemon to get you started and that can speed up the breeding process to obtain your first set of mons to start trading with pretty quickly.

I've done this in every generation and obtained probably 100 or more competitive mons through breedject trading while only breeding one or two from scratch.

Assuming breeding is just as quick was it was in XY, breeding competitively viable pokemon shouldn't take too long. It seems like eggs hatch faster because of Tauros as well?

You will probably get faster and better at it, but when you do begin, make sure you are doing it correctly and you for-sure want that pokemon.

man, i didnt even bother with sos battles, that takes too long. I just fought in areas with general pokes that had the iv's i wanted, then i used the rare berries that i mass grew to remove excess stats before i finally topped the pokes off with only stat specific iv poke enemies. It was easy to train my speed team, i mean... any cave has all pokes with speed ivs. Attack iv's are easy to get too in that desert area with all the lower evolutions of krookadile. My def team was the toughest to find a good lvling spot, I ended up finding a spot with lots of carbinks and some other high def stone poke so it did both spec and def. SOS is a waste imo.
