Why of why do I have yo play through twice more so I can complete the dex by getting both and trading them to my blue file. Seems so stupid I dont mind one more play through as i need to get like the other fossil and hitmochan instead of hitmonlee

Because Pokemon was always designed to be a social game where you need to trade to complete the dex.

Well, you can always use glitches like the Mew glitch which, despite its name, can let you meet and catch pretty much any Pokémon provided you didn't battle one trainer in particular and have a Pokémon with the right special stat. Any Pokémon, including, well, Eevee.

But, officially, I think, Game Freak and Nintendo's response to "What when you don't have friends?" would be "tough luck then".

Today, glitches are the main option. In the past, in addition to the social aspect (which GF really pushed), the other main option was to use Stadium to get more of the exclusive Pokemon (Eevee, the starters, the Hitmons, and the fossils). Beat the Elite Four, and get a random prize. Slow, but potentially valuable.

I do think that the social aspect often feels too forced in Pokemon. Buying an extra game to solve the exclusives issue isn't sufficient; you have to have an extra system if you want to trade with yourself. While I've caved and done that from DS onward, and can do it via GBC and GBA for gen I and II, I still can't easily trade with myself in gen III.
