[Showcase] Eeveeandmew's Cryptic Cryptids

I just thought others would like to see my sprites, even though they are amateur at best. I just do them for fun, really. :)

Now, on to the set of sprites I want to share: The creatures that will replace the pokemon in a hack I plan on releasing eventually. The creatures will all be based on things known as Cryptids, creatures studied in the field of Cryptozoology. Most creatures studied in this field are fictional, with a few supposed sightings, but no proof. Some creatures were put in this category that were indeed real, but thought to be something different from what they really were. The only other things these are based off of are Mythic Humanoids, things such as elves, goblins and fairies. I hope some people will like my sprites!

Will be female only, grass, grass, grass/psychic typing.

Will be 50/50 Female, flying, flying.

Any and all suggestions are welcome for this set of fakemon, and as a reward you may use the sprite free of credit if it is accepted. :) I will be adding more creatures as time goes by! Hopefully someone will think these are good enough. :)

 

[Fairy]

As a cryptid myself speaking for the better part of my species, I'm noticing a distinct lack of fairies, fae, or any kind of fair folk.

Cute idea. There's a lot of mythology and history you can pull from to build up your dex. Will you be doing humanoid versions of the animal cryptids? Or sticking with already well established "human-esque" creatures?

It depends on the creature. I wanted to do these ones first, as they were what first came to mind. Not all of them will be humanoid, though. I actually got the idea for these from playing skyrim and thinking about the elves in the game. :) Also, the first person to recognize the theme of their names gets a cookie. :)

These are some cool ideas. I really like the angel ones. Maybe change the name to something less broad? There are loads of different angels or angelical beings, so just naming them angels is kinda boring, don't you think? And personally I think Seraph and Cherub sound way cooler. You can also make more specific angelic beings this way, instead of just one naming it angel.

Your other sprites look alright, altough the shading on the dress of elfen is the wrong way round, but that doesn't distract too much, so it isn't a big problem. Also I would recommend not to use bright neon colours, as the hairs of some of your shiny(?) sprites is hard to look at, and details get lost. There is also no shame in using black outline to make corners sharper and such. But never the less, there still fun sprites, with a very fun concept!

The angel is staying how it is, as it is a reference to my favorite angels, Pit and Dark Pit. I have no plans for another angel, but I may add a Harpy, a creature similar to an angel. Also, just added Merlions!

 

[Fairy]

Oh! I love how you did the wings on the angel. They look superbly clean and fit seamlessly with the character. You made some good aesthetic choices there.

..Not to use my own work as an example for you, but I'd love to see you add some kind of Bug type character who can fill in the fae requirement and still look awesome. A humanoid female with wings like a monarch butterfly, for example.
