    Do you think it will happen agian.A few years ago pokemon epsiode 38 Eletric Soldier Porygon caused epileptic seizures to over a 1000 children in Japan .The epsiode was never seen agian.The cause the explosion of a vacience missiles from Ash's Pikachu thunderbolt caused a explosion that made a pattern of red and blue lights.That pattern caused the seizure and got pokemon banned fot 4 months.

    I think if it was going to happen again in another episode, it would have already. Japan seems to be just doing the traditional 'background with the lines' now. I doubt there'll be a repeat of that. Plus, I don't think it was ever proven that it could cause seizures.

    All it really was that caused that was just the random order of lights flashing, so it only triggered a few children out of the millions that watched it. If you watch it on a computer it wouldn't be able to generate screens fast enough for it to have any effect on you.

    It could happen,
    But then again... I bet the children wanted seizures..XD

    I agree, they know not to make any odd flashes,even though most of the population are not light-sensitive. They wouldn't even try to pull something like that off again.

    Erm... Children can't help if they have seizures ( at least that's what I think) even though maybe they don't want to go to school or something, they aren't that stupid to be wanting seizures.

    Luckily for me, when I watched it, it didn't give me any seizures.

    My guess is that not many of you actually saw the episode. It was not just one scene that triggered it. The whole episode (including the opening) was really bright and flashed bright colors. The episode had tons of red and blue strobe lights flashing repeatedly. In fact, I don't have to explain it. See for yourself: https://myuu.munkki.net/Porygon/

    I've taken screens of the whole episode. Japan now warns people to watch the show in a well lit room considering the show airs at night. Any scenes with electricity or a good flash of yellow or white has dimmed down on the brightness of it (remember the first Kanto episodes where scenes got darker? That was Japan's doing.) They no longer use those overly bright lightings.

    Oh yeah, and if anyone who sees the screens says they're not to bad..be thankful I used a black background for the site. >_>

    Those are pretty bright. >_>;;

    And no, it won't happen again. Why? Because they don't wanna go through the annoyment of getting banned and crap again. -_-;;

    And how many topics are there gonna be about this episode? ._.

    Yep,as a matter of fact,in the last 5 mins of the epp,there were 5 or 6 instances of those flashing lights,of course the big blow being the Pikachu blowing up the rockets.But no one should worry about it,like I said very few people are light-sensitive,and would be fine watching it on a computer or a DVD or SVCD.

    As long as you're watching it in a well lit room and you're a good safe distance across from the TV, you should be fine. The worst you can get watching the episode on your comp is a minor headache and eye sore from seeing so many bright colors rapidly flashing.

    I'm gonna put a stop to this contemplation right now.

    Here's the deal. There's something called Epilepsy. It's where certain patterns or other things can cause seizures in people that suffer from it. Most cases involve flashing lights. Some cases involve patterns, numbers, or letters.

    Anyway, the scene triggered a few Epileptic Seizures in the kids affected by lights. The reason I know this is because in most video game instructions, they warn about Epileptic Seizures related to patterns of lights.

    My opinion: They could've put a disclaimer on Pokemon warning of this and that it could happen even if the kid shows no symptoms of it. Then they wouldn't have gotten into any legal trouble over it.

    It was NOT 'banned' for 4 months either. What they were doing during that time is editing out the instances of the flashing lights from the future episodes that were completed. That was what they were ordered to do.

    My point: There will NEVER be any instances of flashing lights like that in the show EVER AGAIN!

    That about sums it up. I hope there aren't any more topics made regarding this episode now...

    Pokemon airs at night in Japan? I thought it airs in the daytime.

    No, they changed the opening later on. After the Porygon episode, all of the Pok?mon appeared on a clockwise split screen. And all of the names were dimmed.
