    Gengar@leftovers
    - Psychic
    - Thunderbolt
    - Ice Punch
    - Fire Punch

    Little bit dangerous or...?

    You should stick Destiny Bond somewhere in there, and replace Leftovers with either Salac Berry (so you can almost always use Detiny Bond first) or Petaya Berry (so you can sweep even more. You may want to use Substitute, as well.

    I know Emerald is Gengar Supremacy ;_; Now you can no longer predict that Gengar's special attacks only consist of giga drain/thunderbolt/psychic... add on 2 more elements will just result in Gengar having pretty much one powerful attack for all (useful) elements.

    no not really risky at all, excepty pyschic deosnt really wrok for me. Back in the days of gsc I started with this gengar and it always served me well.

    Gengar@leftovers
    -counter
    -tbolt
    -fpunch
    -ice punch/explosion

    -surprisingly genagr can take most non stab eqs and send it right back at them, the tbolt and fire punch allowed it to take down spikers/rapid spinners, explosion for blissey worries and ice punch if you fear grounds. unfortunately that was a long time ago when things were simple. a set I would use would be:

    Gengar@leftovers
    -destiny bond
    -tbolt
    -fpunch
    -ice punch

    -destiny bond works like counter only you have it to fall back on if you know youre going to die. Its a bit harder because if you use it and they dont ko then they might try to stall you because they know whats coming.

    Gengar can't be hit by earthquake, this is emerald not g/s/c...

    He was trying to say how back then counter works, but now that you can't do this anymore, Destiny Bond is the closest thing. That's all...

    I personally used Giga Drain and Thunderbolt. No reason not to use a nice electric attack, and Giga Drain is just some terrible personality of mine to be absolutely paranoid about Swampert, a Pokemon for I-don't-know-why reasons that keep demolishing me. Everytime I face a Swampert (save the nooby ones with surf and muddy water), I just lose ;_;

    The other 2 attacks are sub and focus punch, of course =) Don't need to rely on explosion anymore to take down Blissey.

    Dude, learn to read the whole thing...

    I'm not to fond of Sub Punching Gengar, it takes up 2 move spaces and becomes kinda useless once Blissey is gone. Gengar doen't have the Atk power to take down an oncoming Lax + Shadowball so I would just go with a Sp. Sweeper + D-Bond.

    Hehe sorry it was 1 hour past midnight when i posted :p

    I loathe the dbond ones. ><; As for what I'll update my standard one with once Emerald tutors are here…ice punch over psychic, probably. Or fire punch seeing as how my main team has no fire. o_x;

    I dunno... I never found the DBond ones to be any problem at all, probably because losing a Swellow far outweights the advantage to taking down a Gengar all the time, so to me it doesn't feel like any lost at all XD;;

    And I loathe with all my soul and all my heart that egg so much, enough to ditch Dbond over focus punch anyday o.o;

    That Gengar could take out any of my pokemon (or could it...hehe). It's got some pretty good moves, but their right. Destiny Bond would work great.

    yeah exactly what he said, I was merely trying to show the natural progression of moves. As gengar progresses and gains new ablities it must be changed accordingly. Although counter gar was a thing to behold, beautiful indeed. The ultimate starter, bai bai lax = ). oh well Dbond doesnt work nearly as well and you can easily interchange it.
