The answer is so obvious that I'm amazed that nobody has mentioned it. That "black Shadow" is a headband that goes behind his bangs, and the Emerald is attached to the front of it.

Actually, I did mention that bit, but I wanted to know everyone's opinions, because there could be so many possibilities, like minakichan saying he could use a wig to make himself look taller, isn't that his point, since he's so short? XD

Y YIS HE DID... well, people wouldn't have been aware of that fact until Volume 21 was released in Japan, and since the scans for the English came out later, people ignored that statement now, since 21 gave them the idea of Ruby's white hat... =P

I'd say that it's his actual hair, but I really don't know for sure. Maybe at the end we'll find out. Maybe he's really bald and uses a stupid wig to cover it up? :P
