I've noticed that in Diamond and Pearl, you seem to get attacked by wild pokemon WAAAY more often than in other versions.

I think encounter rates keep going up every version.
    What about you?

    Nah.

I find a bunch of crap on Red. I walk one step...WILD ODDISH APPEARED! Go! VanillaIce!

I walk another...WILD RATTATA APPEARED! Go! VanillaIce!

It's annoying. It's in the middle on DP for me.

You're absolutley correct. In FR/LG, I thought it was pretty insane. In D/P, you can barely move 3 spaces without getting attacked by a wild Pokemon.

Hopefully nintendo doesn't decide to make the next generations run on timed encounters; as in every random amount of seconds, you would be attacked by a wild Pokemon... even if you didn't move :<

    That would be horrible!

Now that I pay attention to it, I really think it has gone up since Ruby and Sapphire. I haven't played Gold, Silver, or Crystal so my response will be a bit limited. Honestly, it isn't too noticeable though. I went through the whole game without noticing the skyrocket in numbers of appearing wild Pokemon.

I've not really noticed it, at all. Though I've managed to walk from the main characters' house to Jubilife, without an encounter, without using Repels, so work what you will of that. I will say that I've encountered more Pokemon while walking in the wild through older Generations, though. I've only had problems in caves, in D/P, but that's what Repels are for. :)

Oh my gosh!!! yes in caves!!! The encounter rate in caves is just insane it's like every 3 steps practically.....it makes me want to throw my DS out the window sometimes. It's also awful when I use my bike to be speedier but the encounter rate goes up so really it seems almost slower at times -_-

Again, I'll say Repels are a cave wanderer's best friend. Because of the 999 limit on single item storage in the bag, I'm never short on Repels, and I even stock up on them, since I think Diamond and Pearl are overly generous with money.

Yes, but the first couple routes are horrid. D:, and you have to see SOME wild pokemon to complete your dex.

meh, its a 50/50 for me on this. personally i think it just appears that way becuz of the game screen size. If you noticed it isn't as stretched out but its possible that the encounter rate went up a bit.

THAT'S WHAT MAX REPELS ARE FOR FUFUFU
