ok people this is my first time posting something like this so I hope it
helps, my sources are lots and lots of reading faqs about this
here's the formula to calculate your pokemons
IV (individual values)
Formula KEY
C = Current Stat
N = Nature
B = Base Stat
L = Level
E = Effor Points Gained
I = Individual Value
this particular formula works for the following
Attack, Defense, Speed, Special Attack, Special Defense
I = [{(C/N)-5}100/L] - (2*B) - (E/4)
ok there's the formula the thing is no ever explaines how it works
ok so here it is
1. you pretty much have to know the steps in algebra
I'll do an example step by step so u can see for yourselves
I'm gonna use Zigzagoone and an example
here's it's base stats
HP - 38
Atk - 30
Def - 41
SpA - 30
SDef - 41
Spd - 60
here's a lv.13 zigzagoone caught in the wild's current stats
hp - 34
atk - 15
def - 18
spA - 15
SDef - 18
Spd - 23
now here goes
I wanna solve for it's Speed IV
I haven't trained it at all , I just caught it so it's got no
Effor points yet, it's got a docile nature (further explination at the bottom)
so here goes (a step by step solution will be shown so follow along
I = [{(23 / 1)-5}100/13]- (2*60) - (0/4)
first we work our way out so here goes
step 1
I = [{23 - 5}100/13] - 120
ok so we know 23 devided by 1 is 23 obviously and u can see that
the (0/4) has been dropped because the result is 0
next we have
Step 2
I = {18} 100/12] - 120
ok so now it's time to multiply
I = 1800/13 - 120
I = 138.46 - 120 (here's where it's important to round up
I = 138 - 120 = 18
so this pokemons' Speed IV is 18 of curse it's at lv.13 so this is jsut an
approximate figure
some things to remember
1. this formula works best for Higher level pokemon
(get lots of rare candies, save then use them on your pokemon
as much as you can , they provide no EV's but u'll be able to solve
for the IV's more accurately if it's levels are higher after you've solved
turn off the game and decide wether or not u wanna keep the pokemon
if it's got poor IV's or what not)
2. if u'r pokemons nature affects the stat use the following in place of "N"
Neutral = 1
Boost = 1.1
Drop = 0.9
3. the section where this (E/4) can be dropped unless you're EV training
to make your pokemon better in which case you'd have to keep track
of what you're training against
for example if u were speed ev training and u were to fight 5 zigzagoones
which provide 1 speed ev point each then u'd have to keep track of how
many points is recieved for each stat make a chart it helps
4. if u breed with a ditto whatever the egg is, will get it's stat IV"s from the
ditto, if u breed with something else then u'll get the IV's of whatever
the opposite gender of the babies IV"s are
for example male wailor + female milotic
and u got a male milotic it would get it's stat IV's from it's mother
it'd be the opposite if it were female
um...that pretty much covers everything I've learned about IV"s
hope this helps y'all
