EV training for people who don't understand Effort Values

Bumping this thread for moderators sakes

Added a little something about using the Pokéradar to make EV training easier on you.

Wouldn't it still be 8 if I battled against a pokemon who gives 2 EV's? Like this:
Lets say I battle a Gastrodon. It gives me two. And I have pokerus. Would it go

The 2 EV's, times pokerus, plus power weight
2x2+4=8

Or

The 2 EV's, plus power weight, times pokerus
(2+4)x2=12

Which would it be?

Isn't 255 the Max you can get?

No, 999 is the max you can have of any item so far as I know, I have 999 Super Repels and I can't buy anymore according to the pokemart dude, so I'd say that 999 plus one for every Pokemon you can fit in a box and in the party... technically... (as a hold item)

As far as Power items, Pokerus doesn't effect them, Pokerus doesn't effect hold items, so you would always get P(EV)+4=total so a possible if Pokemon gives 1 EV: 2+4=6
If 2:4+4=8
and if 3: 6+4=10

Shadow, I just posted a thread in community questions requesting this to be sticky. Help me out and give some support. They might be willing.

I added more information about Pokerus, such as how you will know your Pokemon has it, I hope it helps anyone who is searching for it.

Shadowtails, about pokerus, you forgot to mention that after it wears off and the :) appears, they will still get double EV's, they just can't spread it.

I have that it will wear off, I guess I should add that it still doubles the EV.

I wasn't talking about the items. i was talking about the Ev's.

Yes, but EVs over 252 are wasted, as the game divides by 4 and rounds down (at l100). So to do things optimally, there's no point going to 255.

However the 252/252/6 split is as good as a 253/253/4 or whatever, and realistically no different to a 255/255 split. If I'm going for maxing two stats, I just train those two stats until I can't gain any more EVs (I mean, keeping track with spreadsheets?). OK, so I lose 1 point in a third stat, but it's one point - it's really not going to make any real difference.

If I was going for a 252/128/128 split it'd be slightly different, that's a time when keeping track is worthwhile.
