ev training problem

so i got a jirachi using an AR and leveled it up to 100 and i'm now starting my ev training

i've been battling vileplumes which give 3 evs for SA, but as much as i battle my stat stays the same, i'm playing fire red

can someone tell me what's going on?

Pokemon can't gain EVs from battle after reaching Lv.100 because they can't gain experience. They can still gain EVs from vitamins however.

now wait a minute... according to the Advanced Trainer's Guide/Pokemon Profile topic, i did exactly what it said, up to the leveling up your pokemon to 100, now unless something has changed since i read that, i believe the evs are still able to increase after when you reach lv100

from my limited knowledge of the ev training (training a 3 pokemon), the evs you have gained go into effect after you gain a level

Since EV gets converted to stats after...:
a) You level up
b) You evolve
c) Put that Pokemon back into a PC box

Because your Pokemon is at lv.100 and can't achieve either a or b, put it into the PC box once, and retrieve it again.

ok, i tried the putting in the pc thing, but it still doesn't work, maybe i shouldnt give them vitamins or something? i always give 10 vitamins to the stat i'm trying to boost and then try to ev train

The vitamins are a good thing. That's all you're going to get for EVs on this pokemon, in fact. Each vitamin gives 10 EV points to the alloted stat, so 10 would give you 100 EVs in the desired stat.

A pokemon gains Evs when it gains experience. At Lv.100, it cannot gain experieince, so it cannot gain EVs from battle.

Did you misread it? Did it maybe say "your pokemon will recieve these points by Lv.100," or something along those lines? I haven't read it yet, so it may be unclear. *Goes to skim over guide for unclearity*

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE HERE?!?!

That 'guide' has terrible errors in it, worse than Serebii's. I'm sorry to say this, but you have wasted a good amount of time and effort (no pun intended) in getting this pokemon to where it is now.
