Is it really worth it? I mostly battle with friends who haven't. I know it also takes a lot of effort, especially of said Pokemon has special egg moves.

So I ask this, is it really worth it? What are the best benefits?

Yes, it is very worth it. I think (I'm not 100% sure though,) that it adds roughly up to 60 points to your final stat you train in.

Moved to Pokémon Strategies & Movesets.

EV trained Pokemon can have up to 63 more points than normal in their stats, which is a significant number. The average stat of a Pokemon is 80, which equates to a stat total of 196 (assuming 0 EV and 31 IV). So, that's an extra 1/3 more HP, Att, Def, whatever, which is a significant amount. That extra few points of attack or defence can make the difference between KOing an opponent and just hanging on with a few HP.

And that's not figuring in the 10% bonus from natures.

Awesome, I think I'll start on my new team now. Thanks guys :)

What they just said is only the tip of the iceberg, or however the hell that saying goes. With more indepht training, you can have more creative movesets (like Eletrivire with Ice Punch), pokes with better stats: on top of the 63 you get from EV training, you can also get more via IV breeding, 31 to be exact. You can have more powerful teams, such as sweepers, walls, etc. Basically, pokes with specific roles. And the most important, if you wanna battle thru wi-fi, you really must EV train in order to survive. If ya need help, just ask.

Yeah, from my experience, a majority of the members of this forum are pretty nice and helpful. Trust me, I was clueless about all this stuff when I first joined... Be sure to observe natures and stuff to make sure you get one that works. Also, feel free to ask questions on moves and EV spreads in different threads.

Oh, and it is "Tip of the Iceburg," sims. You had it right.

Oh yeah? You wanna see my first thread? THAT is clueless.

Awesome. I really don't understand IVs. Do you know of a guide or something? Thank you for all the info, I appreciate it.

On the Diamond/Pearl forum. There is an EV training guide. Also covers IV's, natures, and the like.
