EV trouble

I have a problem with EV training. I have a magby that im trying to raise defense on. I train on gravelers while holding a macho brace. I only get plus ones and twos when I should be getting fives or sixes, and I calculated this on paper. Can anyone tell me why this is? I would truly appreciate the help.

Let's put it this way: You'll mainly see the changes in EVs at level 100.

Besides, all the EVs you gain at a level will not be added at the next level; they'll be spread out. Like insteand of gaining a five, you will gain two for the next five levels until it adds up.
