In-Game Guide: EV, Vitamins and Wings

    Hello, I am not super familiar with EV training so I apologize if this is a rookie mistake. So basically I have a pokemon and I gave him a resist wing and as I expected, its defense EV increase by 1. Strangely, however, it's HP increase by 7 points and its defense suddenly rised by 9 points, which I find strange because its defense EV only increased by 1. I restarted the game and tried giving a carbos to my Pokemon, but again, it's HP increased by 7 and it's defense increased as well... Why is this happening?
