Event Ribbons and GTS help!

    Hi All, After joining PC i've learn more about hacked events but there's still some areas which are confusing.

    At the moment the hack checks i use for events are as follows:
    • Checking it's OT, ID, level met and place met
    • Checking for a ribbon
    • Checking if it can be put on GTS
    • Checking its date to see if its powersaved


    However I was checking a few of my pokes and i noticed some peculiarities. First of all I got a Hoopa ages ago without a ribbon from GTS. It seems like it was an event hoopa and someone hacked the ribbon off so that it could be traded on GTS. So what I'm asking is. If u get a legit event poke and hack the ribbon off, will it be able to be traded on GTS and wondertrade?


    I was also wondering about event ribbons. I read that event ribbons only got added in Gen 4. I've tried putting my gen 3 mew onto GTS (it doesnt have a ribbon) and it wouldn't allow me. I then tried putting my Wish Chansey (the only chansey that can know Wish. i think it's an american event) and GTS allowed it to be deposited. Does anyone know why? is it because it's not an event exclusive pokemon and there weren't ribbons in Gen 3?


    And finally: I noticed ribbons were added in Gen 4, As well as this there were numerous events where u were given an item, such as oak's letter, to catch a pokemon in the wild such as shaymin and darkrai. I have a shiny darkrai and shaymin from the events where u catch them in the wild ( I believe this is the only way to get a shiny shaymin and darkrai in gen 4 anyways) and I noticed they didn't have a ribbon yet I couldnt deposit in in the GTS. My other Gen 4 events have ribbons. According to Google, event pokemon that u catch in the wild don't obtain ribbons like the pokemon ranger manaphy. is this true? and also i was wondering why my shaymin and darkrai can't be put on GTS since it doesn't have a ribbon.
     
    I don't know if removing ribbons would allow you to put a legit event into GTS or not. I have a feeling the answer is no but I can check tomorrow morning if you like, for science. If the answer is yes I wouldn't recommend asking someone to hack ribbons back on to be able to trade. I believe there is a program that can check for altered code in Pokemon and I'd imagine adding a ribbon back, even if it was originally a legit event, would show up as altered in this program.

    Did you redeem Chansey yourself? At this point I just assume any Pokemon I haven't obtained myself (or am certain whoever I'm trading with has redeemed) is a potential hack.

    Events you catch in-game don't have ribbons. It must be something encoded in Darkrai and Shaymin that prevents them being traded.

    i don't even think u can add ribbons, u can only delete them. if u could then there would be a lot more hacked pokes o.O i'll just release that hoopa

    nope. got it from a trade on PC.

    oh phew... yay shiny shaymin and darkrai :P
