With Pokemon Legends Arceus being just over a month away from releasing, I thought it would be a good time to look at everything we currently know about the new titles.

Legends: Arceus is the first title Gamefreak have published since Sword and Shield. The game is set in the past, being based in the Hisui region. This region would go on to be known as Sinnoh. The Hisui region is going to be an explorable world, however gamefreak have said that the game isn't an open world title. So we will need to see how this pans out.

The Hisui region is home to a wide range of Pokemon. The full list of pokemon will be shown later, but for now lets focus on the new ones. First we have 4 Pokemon that will be getting regional forms. These are

    Growlithe

    Zorua

    Zoroark

    Braviary.

To add to this, we have 3 new pokemon. The first is Kleavor, ths is an evolution of Scyther. It is currently unknown how this will evolve, however we do know this it special minerails in the region make it evovle into Kleavor. So some form of evolution stone perhaps? The introduction of Kleavor also leaves Scizors availability in the game under some doubts. Kleavor also has a new move called Stone Axe.

The second new Pokemon is Wyrdeer. This is an evolution of Stantler, it is currently unknown how to evolve this pokemon too.

The final new Pokemon is Basculegion. Like with the other two, we currently do not know how this will evolve from Basculin. However we do know that it happens in the lore when Basculin becomes possessed by the souls of other Basculin. So the logical evolution method here is to beat so many Basculin with one in your party.

Pokemon aren't the only new addition to the franchise. Some new features will be added too. One of these is crafting. For example we know that PokeBalls require 1 Apricorn and 1 Tumblestone to craft. Another item being added to the game for crafting is the Medicinal leak. So it would be safe to assume that potions or some type of healing item will also be craftable.

One key element of the game is the ability to walk around freely and sneak. This sneak mechanic looks like it will play a vital role in the exploration of the region, as pokemon will rush to attack you if you are noticed. Due to this, one new item added is called a smoke bomb. When used this will create a mist that will prevent pokemon from spotting you for a time. Pokemon will attack you in the overworld, similar to how they did in Sword and Shield. You can also capture pokemon in the overworld instead of in battle. A reticle will appear and you have to aim and throw the ball manually. The weather and time of day in the game will also have an effect on wild pokemons behaviour.

The other new items that we know are in the game are Blackstone Tumble, Caster Fern, Forest Balm, Sootfoot Root, Substitute Charm 1, and Tumblestone.

Forest Balm is the one to focus on now, as it is linked to another new mechanic in the games. Forest Balm is an item used to help weaken frenzied Pokémon in Grandtree Arena. So what is a frenzied Pokemon? Well they seem to be boss like pokemon, similar to totems in Sun and Moon. It is assumed they will replace the use of Gyms within the games.

Speaking of gyms, lets look at battling within Legends: Arceus as it has a few changes to normal pokemon titles. The battle system isn't turn based like we are used too. Instead the game adopts a battle system similar to a lot of modern JRPGs, in that it has a system where pokemon can have multiple attacks in a row, based on their stats. Each attack also has 2 different styles. Agile and Strong. The agile style will make the move faster, but weaker. While strong will make it stronger but slower.

There is also a chance for Wild Pokemon to appear as an Alpha. An alpha pokemon will be bigger and stronger than normal, as well as having red eyes. These are like normal fights, and the pokemon are catchable. They also have an increased rare item drop chance.

The main hub of the game will be Jubilife Village. We currently know that this will have a clothing shop, a general good store, a photography studio, and pastures. The Pasture is where pokemon not in the party will be kept.

The game will also feature research tasks. The main one known is the complete the Pokedex, however smaller challenges will also be attached to this for individual pokemon. These tasks could range from capturing/defeating them to using them in so many battles.

Much like how Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond allowed you to connect to the other switch pokemon titles to get Mew and Jirachi, Legends Arcus will allow you to do the same. If you have a Sword/Shield save on your account, you can get Shaymin.

So here is the list of all available pokemon that we know of:
