Does anyone think that there should be more extinct pokemon? If pokemon are based off of animals, and there are so many extinct animals, then why shouldn't there be more? If they do come out with a 5th gen. then I think they should focus alot on extinct animals and make pokemon based off of them.

I think there aren't many because in real life, considering the number of animal species we have on record, only a small fraction of those are extinct. Although we know of a few thousand extinct species, we know of millions of living speces. And so there are hundreds of pokemon but only a handful of fossil pokemon.

I wouldn't mind seeing many more extinct fossil pokemon. Like dinosaurs, birds, reptiles etc.

perhaps a pokemon modeled after a tyranasaurus?

Yeah, it would be cool if they made a whole pokemon game about digging up pokemon fossils, and discovering hidden tombs and legends, but there's probably a down side I don't see...6_6

The fossil pokemon are interesting, but I don't think they should -focus- on them. :\

Fossil pokemon are boring. Normally cuzz they took a while to revive

not in Diamond and Pearl it isn't, you walk in, drop the fossil off and walk out and then come back and have that pkmn

Fossil Pokemon are okay, especially Cradily, I'm happy they did atleast 3 episodes of fossil pkmn

Um, actually over 70% of the species that have ever been on Earth are extincted. /:

I really would like to see some more fossil pokemon but good ones, like the 1st gen fossils.

Wait. Who says that a Pokemon has to be a fossil to be based on an extinct Pokemon? *motions to Piloswine/Mamoswine and Doduo/Dodrio*

Other than that, if you mean that the new batch of Pokemon should be mostly fossils, then that presents the problem of having a region where there's nothing in it except rocks and temples, which is kinda what Rosefrost already touched upon.

I would like to see a woolly mammoth Pomemon. It would be the coolest Pokemon evah. Other than that, making a lot of Pokemon based on extintct animals would be very boring.

um, hello, isnt there one already? ya' no, mamaswine...?

It appears to be a splice of a boar and mammoth, miss smarty pants. That means it's not the true tank that is the woolly mammoth. Also it's 'you', not 'ya''- which isn't a word at all.

    my god, mr. smartypants. >(

anyways, i think sum1 said earlier that tyrantar is a tyranisaurus rex pokemon. not really, well, sorta... there should be one that is obvoiusly a tyranasaurus.

I'm female, actually. If you just look at infomation to your left, you would know.

You spelled Tyranitar and Tyrannosauras wrong. Anyway, Tyranitar is actaully based on a Tarasque. Bulbapedia is your friend.

    Tyrannosaurus.

Also, personally, I believe that Mamoswine and Piloswine still count in terms of being woolly mammoths, as there's an apparent amount of influence of the animal in their designs -- enough to make it mammoth like. (This goes especially for Mamoswine, which has the shape of a woolly mammoth anyway, lax the trunk.) So, to say that the woolly mammoth never appeared in the games is a bit of a half-lie, no pun intended. On the other hand, it's also a half-truth, so it could go either way, depending on whether or not you're satisfied with just a half-woolly.

On a separate note, I'd like to see a saber-toothed tiger myself. Or a Tasmanian one.

O: We've already got one of those *coughraikoucough*

I've always hesitated about calling Raikou a cat for the simple reason that there still seems to be a controversy over whether or not the GSC trio are cats or dogs. (The argument lies in the idea that some people assert that Suicune is a wolf, that Entei looks incredibly like a canine, and that it wouldn't make sense for Raikou to not fit in this pattern. GameFAQs insists they're gerbils, but that's GameFAQs for you. And yes, I'm aware of what Bulbapedia says.) So, on that note, I just go with the "it's a raiju" explanation and avoid the term "cat" altogether. Piss-poor reason, I know, but still. =/

Whoa, whoa, please, there's no need to get edgy, she has the right to her own opinion. And further more, I don't see why you are criticizing her, this is a topic about fossil pokemon, not a topic where you worry and criticize about other peoples grammar and spelling.:\
