    So who watches Family Guy? I thought it might be nice to have a discussion thread on it :D
     
    I hate it. Horrible, unfunny show. Filled to the brim with time fillers and no plot. Has horrrible, boring characters too. But I'll be honest here, it was good before it was cancelled. But when it was brought back it went down hill.

    Are 8 minute chicken fights really funny? No, it just a quick gag trying to kill time because the writers can't do a decent plot. Is watching Conway Twitty sing a song fun to watch in a cartoon? No, it's just useless time fillers.

    The once somewhat decent cast of characters has devolved to a pile of trash. Stewie was an evil baby bent on killing his mother and taking over the world. Now he's a homosexual baby. Brian was once a respectful, smart character, but he is now just Seth MacFarlene's fursona.

    Sorry for the butthurt rant, but it just irks me ever so much to see how popular this cartoon is. When it really deserves to be cancelled.

    Ouch, that's harsh. I love it, I tend to find it more entertaining than the likes of The Simpsons, even though I like that too. I loved Blue Harvest and I can't wait for Something, Something, Something Dark Side.

    I watch it sometimes. It's not my favorite show, not even close, but it's bearable.
    Nah, I do like it, if it's on I'll watch it.

    This. It's all overused, as well. I really can't see how it's gotten so popular when shows like Squidbillies are being pushed back to midnight.

    One thing that irks me is when people wish cancellation on shows. If you don't like it, don't watch it -- lots of people still enjoy it. Cancellation has nothing to do with the quality of the show. Especially if it's on the FOX network.

    Anyway, I like it occasionally. Some episodes make me laugh a lot, others don't. But I sorta think that's their intention. If you throw in as many random references to things as possible, then odds are everyone will find at least something funny... y'know, unless you're sitting there watching it while actively thinking about how "awful" and "unfunny" the show is, in which case you should probably get a life. But nearly everyone who isn't uptight about it and just watch it and try to enjoy themselves can find something to laugh at.

    While I have to agree on the Conway Twitty footage, I have to say anyone who questions the epic hilarity of the chicken fights deserves a swift Magic Trick to the eye socket.

    8 Minute Chicken Fights = Funny
    Conway Twitty = Fun if you sing along d: jk I really don't know.

    Too bad it comes out at the same time as king of the hill, because i like koth too.
     
    I love the show! Especially the fat guy strangler one. :D

    I agree though that the new episodes haven't been up to par with the rest.

    It was alright the first time, but the thing is; it's too long. When they don't have the episode long enough, instead of working on the plot they add in this or other unfunny time fillers. Really it's just senseless voilence, which if used correctly can be funny, but the thing they just drag on these fights.

    I really think it depends on what you as an individual considers "funny". I for one find the chicken fights to be some of the most entertaining and memorable segments in the series. But hey, senseless violence used in a comedic manner is funny to me. On the other hand, the comedy is Seinfeld is not. You talk like they happen often though, when there have only been a handful of instances so I don't really see your argument as to why they aren't very good because they're too long. Not to mention "plot" is a word you should use very loosely with shows in this genre since more often than not the plot is only a device for the gags and can quickly change.

    Anyways, Family Guy is one of those shows where I've watched the same episodes at least 8 times and can still find something to laugh at. So that's good enough for me.
     
    Der, pretty good show...I agree with Wulf, no plot...but it is pretty funny to watch...CHICKEN FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
     
    Well I do hope they make the new series "The Cleveland Show" like how family guy was during the first few seasons, back when they wouldn't shoot themselves with guns and you would get to see more chicken fights. My favorite character from this show has got to be Ollie Williams...haha is he ever so charming.
