Your story had some good ideas, though it did have several holes and such which needed filling. So I added a little description, feel free to use or not use my input as you see fit.
Countless millennia ago, the World was occupied by two great tribes. Normal beings, and those gifted with enhanced abilities, some even had access to abnormal powers.
Those of this gifted tribe had an appearance quite distinct from the 'normal' people, their eyes and hair were colored strangely, among other things. They were stronger, faster, and more intelligent than their brothers belonging to the other tribe. For a long time, the un-gifted and the gifted lived together in peace, but in time, the un-gifted began to fear the power of the gifted tribe, as their power grew continuously with each generation. They feared being overthrown and subjugated by the gifted tribe. A person's response to fear tends to be to destroy what they fear. Tension rose between them, and rumors of war was on everybody's lips.
In order to prevent the eventual war, a group of people from both tribes came together. To prevent the destruction of the two tribes, this group, calling themselves the
Guardians combined the amazing abilities of the gifted, and the technical prowess of the un-gifted, they broke the world in two. The gifted tribe was left on one side, and the un-gifted on the other, with the
Guardians residing in the center, protecting the
Twin Gates, which led to either dimension.
The gifted called their new world
Abatiera, and named themselves
Abatierans. Eventually, memories of the un-gifted tribe fell to myth, and legends of jealous men creautes without abilities, who would kill an
Abatieran upon sight, persisted through the ages...
In the dimension of the un-gifted, all memories and myths of those now called
Abatierans have all but disappeared. Though there are still small clusters of people with some
Abatieran blood, from before the Seperation, who still remember...
Many years past, and the memory of the Abatieran's faded into legend, and from legends into myths, and then, they were forgotten. The world continued normally, no memories of the
Abatierans remaining.
The current time in modern Earth, in the un-gifted dimension, is 2008 AD...
The Guardians, in the time since the
Breaking have changed, they've become a mix of gifted and un-gifted, most being strong in
Construction (Building up materials/creating more of a material/), a skill which assists in their duty of keep the
Twin Gates intact. Though they are weak in most of the other abilities which the
Abatierans are known for. All the Guardians still toil away in their own dimension, doing their best to keep the Twin Gates sealed. That is, all but Renkth...
Renkth is a high-ranking member of the
Council, which governs the
Guardians, and presides over the
Gates. He is different than most
Guardians in that his abilities specialize in
Transmutation (changing something into something else O_o), and that he is secretly plotting to destroy the
Twin Gates, and merge the dimensions. This is because Renkth is incredibly, and irrevocably mad, his belief is that with the
Gates gone, and both tribes residing together again, they will proclaim him their god.
Using his
Transmutation ability, Renkth is
Transmuting Abateirans-obtained by slipping into
Abateira through the cracks created by thousands of years of stress- into
Ekohs (fairly humanoid creatures with weak abilities in
Illusion (creating images and situations that aren't real)) and sending them into the dimension of the un-gifted, to foment panic, so the people will be easier to conquer. He has not yet begun his plans for
Abateira...
