Favorite Book

And I also love LOTR and the Harry Potter series <3

Agreed. Those are my top favorites. As I am a fan of the fantasy genre, that is no surprise. However, there are many other books I love...in fact, the majority of the books I've read are books I've adored, and I almost feel as though leaving them out would be an insult to them. X3 However, there are way too many good books I've enjoyed to list them all... David Clement-Davies's novel The Sight is another one I particularly admire, though, so I suppose I could at least give it an honorable mention.

I have to say Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Its one of the few books that got my attention.

I have many:

- The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown
- Digital Fortress, by Dan Brown
- Harry Potter Books: 3, 4, and 5, by J.K. Rowling
- Howl's Moving Castle, by Diana Wynne Jones
- Castle in the Air, by Diana Wynne Jones
- Warriors Don't Cry, by Melba Patillo Beals
- The Five People You Meet In Heaven, by Mitch Albom
- The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke

I have thousands...

All of Tamora Pierces Tortal and magic series,
Harry Potter,
Lord of the Rings

But my ultimate favourite has to be Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy. I have always loved them, and I always will. :)

Probably Lord of The Flies. Loved how it showed that a society lacking law and order can turn even the most civilized people into savages. Couldn't be anymore true. Some other favorites of mine are The Giver, The Catcher in the Rye, all of the A Series of Unfortunate Events books, and the Harry Potter series (excluding Half-Blood Prince, since half the book was nothing but poorly written romance).

My favorite book(s) have to be the Arabian Nights, The Canterbury Tales and the Odyssey, and I couldn't agree more on the Half-Blood Prince.

I didn't know where to put this so I decided to put this here.

I've read a lot of good books, most recommended by teachers, but my all time favorite would have to be A Tale of Two Cities, I loved that book. I think it was a great book and it has my favorite and one of the most well known opening sentences, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity...."

Well, what is your favorite book?

I've read a bit of that book.

My fav's Alex Rider. Its a serie. Its from Anthony Horowitz. HE IS COOL !

I guess we don't have that many christians here...some other books besides the Bible...hmmm

The entire Dune Series...if anyone here can understand them...read them...they are incredibly deep.

Lord of the rings for sure...including the hobbit...its simple but still a great book.

The WAY TO LONG "Left Behind Series"

And how can you not read the entire Hitchhikers To The Galaxy Series...amazingly funny yet surprizingly deep...unlike the movie which cut out all the good parts.

I like books based on movies because they're easier to understand. The Harry Potter Series and Tom Sawyer are a few of my favorites.

Hmmmm...

The "A Song OF Ice And Fire" series by George R.R. Martin. Recommended reading for any fan of epic fantasy. It's definately not the derivitive stuff of Robert Jordan or Terry Goodkind.

"Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad. The language can be dense and hard to follow at times, but it's a compelling read by any standard.

I don't know if drama counts, but Eugene O'Neil's "The Hairy Ape," Arthur Miller's "The Crucible," and Tennessee Williams' "Cat One A Hot Tin Roof" are wonderful examples of drama detailing the human experience. That, and they're just talented playwrights.

"A Farewell To Arms" by Ernest Hemingway is very much worthwhile in the body of American literature. I believe it to be Hemingay's best work.

"The Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan. Yes, I know I spoke against him earlier. I can't help it, though, it's my guilty pleasure.

"The Ender's Quartet" and the subsequent Bean books by Orson Scott Card. I wouldn't recommend much else by him, but this is good, compelling science fiction.

"Battle Royale" by Koshun Takami. It's an interesting concept, though the language is occasionally lacking. I'm not sure if that's the translation I have or author deficit, but it's still worth reading.

I suppose those are my favortie, favorite, at least the ones I can think of off the top of my head. *laughs* I have more book than I have shelf, so there's a few that I can't think of at the moment.

I loved that book...Movie was good, but not as good as the book.

I actually have two favorites so far. They are part of the Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini - Eragon and Eldest. I am sooo excited for the third book to come out. X3~ I have to say I also really liked Watership Down and The Last Unicorn. I'm big on fantasy, as you can tell. XD

The Hobbit was a pretty good book. I also liked Island of the Blue Dolphins. Both kept me interested, which is hard to do at times. XD

As he's my favorite author, I consider quite a few books written by Terry Prachett to be among my favorites. Among those I've read, I see Interesting Times and Guards! Guards! as being my top favorites.

Aside from those, I found myself liking The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb quite a lot - which is odd, since I can't get into liking any other books by her. I know I tried reading the first book of another of her trilogies, and got about halfway through before I wasn't willing to read anymore. It's just those three that I absolutely loved, and even though each of them was at least 700 pages long (with small text, too!), I couldn't help but feel like that still wasn't enough. Hmm.

They're all fantasy/sci-fi books...which isn't surprising, considering that genre is one of my favorites by far. I do like other books from other genres, but I don't recall them exactly at the moment.

I haven't read very many books, now that I think about it. Not willingly, anyway. Got a lot of catching up to do ^_^

But out of what I *have* read, my favorites are definitely "Ender's Game" and "The Time Ships".

Oh! Terry Pratchett? I got his book - along with Neil Gaiman - "Good Omens," which is waiting for me to read.
